About this role
We are seeking a Telecommunications Technician – Radio Access Network (First Line Support) to join our India Network Operations Centre (NOC). This role is responsible for first-level network operations and support, ensuring high network availability across a 24x7 environment. The individual will monitor, detect, analyse, troubleshoot and coordinate the resolution of network incidents, working closely with internal teams, field engineers, suppliers and external partners to ensure timely service restoration and adherence to defined SLAs and KPIs.
What you will do
- Perform NOC shift activities in line with defined operational routines and processes.
- Monitor network alarms and events proactively to detect incidents within agreed SLAs.
- Correlate alarms and events to identify incidents and ensure accurate registration and tracking.
- Manage the full incident lifecycle from detection through to resolution and closure.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network faults, resolving issues remotely where possible or dispatching to appropriate second-line teams or external partners.
- Execute defined escalation procedures based on incident impact, priority and severity.
- Coordinate with field technicians to support on-site fault detection and resolution activities.
- Dispatch incidents to suppliers covering transmission, leased lines, power and other in-scope services.
- Perform periodic follow-ups on active alarms, incidents and open trouble tickets.
- Support service desk activities, including call handling, email and ticket-based communications.
- Ensure accurate incident codification and assignment to the correct resolving teams.
- Facilitate site access and authorisation processes for suppliers and partners when required.
- Maintain consistency checks on network inventory databases and report discrepancies.
- Execute operational and maintenance routines such as alarm testing and support for on-site work.
- Prepare detailed shift reports and ensure effective handover between shifts.
Who you are
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications or a related discipline.
- Bring 5–8 years of experience in telecommunications network operations or a similar role.
- Have working knowledge of GSM, UMTS, LTE, 5G and radio access network technologies.
- Are familiar with network elements such as RBS, BSC, RNC, SGSN, site infrastructure and transmission technologies including PDH, SDH, Metro Ethernet and IP.
- Understand ITIL-based Incident Management practices.
- Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Remain effective under pressure, including during high-impact incidents and crisis situations.
- Are comfortable working in a shift-based, 24x7 operational environment.
- Demonstrate collaboration, influencing and negotiation skills when working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Possess good written and spoken English skills.
- Have basic programming or scripting skills to support automation initiatives.
