About this Role
What you’ll do
Define end-to-end solution architecture for enterprise applications, digital platforms, and microservices-based systems.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
- Drive architectural decisions across application, integration, workflow, data, and infrastructure domains.
- Produce high-level and low-level design documents, architecture diagrams, integration designs, and deployment models.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and operational standards.
- Define API standards, service decomposition strategies, configuration approaches, resiliency patterns, and deployment models.
- Ensure solutions meet scalability, performance, availability, and reliability requirements.
- Review technical designs and code to ensure adherence to architectural standards and engineering best practices.
- Design and implement event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka.
- Define topic structures, partitioning strategies, schema governance, retry mechanisms, and consumer group design.
- Promote best practices for asynchronous communication, event streaming, monitoring, tracing, idempotency, and message ordering.
- Design workflow-driven solutions using Camunda and/or Temporal.
- Establish orchestration patterns for long-running business processes, compensation mechanisms, retries, and state management.
- Collaborate with business and engineering teams to optimise process automation and workflow delivery.
- Define data architecture and persistence strategies using MongoDB and relevant enterprise data platforms.
- Establish standards for schema design, indexing, performance tuning, lifecycle management, and high availability.
- Ensure data resilience, consistency, and operational efficiency across distributed systems.
- Define observability and logging standards for enterprise applications.
- Drive implementation of structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, correlation IDs, and alerting mechanisms.
- Support operational excellence through proactive monitoring and production readiness practices.
- Provide guidance and technical leadership across architecture, development, testing, and production support functions.
- Conduct architecture reviews, design walkthroughs, and governance assessments.
- Mentor engineering teams and support capability development across the organisation.
- Collaborate closely with product, delivery, operations, infrastructure, and security teams.
- Ensure secure-by-design principles covering authentication, authorisation, encryption, and auditability.
- Embed performance, resilience, disaster recovery, and operational readiness into architecture decisions.
- Support DevSecOps practices, CI/CD adoption, and deployment automation.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and compliance activities.s.
Who you are
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering and solution design.
- 5+ years of experience architecting or leading design of microservices-based distributed systems.
- Strong experience working within large-scale enterprise environments supporting critical business applications.
- Experience in modernisation, transformation, or migration initiatives.
Technical Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot for microservices and REST API development.
- Proven expertise in Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture patterns.
- Strong knowledge of logging frameworks including SLF4J, Logback, and Log4j2.
- Solid MongoDB experience including schema design, indexing, performance optimisation, and operational management.
- Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration platforms such as Camunda and/or Temporal.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, API design, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or comparable cloud-native platforms.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and deployment automation.
- Exposure to observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Splunk.
