What you’ll do

Role Purpose: We are seeking an AI Engineer with strong expertise in Generative & Agentic AI to help design and implement advanced AI models that solve real business problems. You will work closely with technical leads, product owners, and business units to develop robust GenAI and AgenticAI solutions, contributing across the full lifecycle from research to deployment.

Job Responsibilities

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

• Develop and integrate Generative AI models (LLMs, multimodal models) using OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source alternatives
• Build agentic workflows (single-agent and basic multi-agent) using different frameworks
• Implement tool-use and memory for agents; integrate MCP Servers for standardized tool interoperability
• Collaborate with senior engineers on A2A (Agent-to-Agent) communication patterns for multi-agent coordination
• Ensure Responsible AI practices: prompt injection defences, PII redaction, and compliance with security standards.
• Deploy AI services on cloud or containerized environments (Azure, AWS, Kubernetes)
• Monitor and troubleshoot AI applications using observability tools (Datadog)
• Document solutions and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team
• Participate in every aspect of development and implementation, collaborate with end users (product owners) to fully understand business requirements
• Work in an agile team environment, progress report in daily SCRUM stand-ups
• Ensure compliance with Vodafone policies and procedures
• Support testing activities (functional and non-functional tests in all relevant project phases)
• Investigate and fix defects and incidents during development and application lifecycle
• Prepare release packages for test and production environment
• Manage incidents as level two and level three support
• Manage problems as level two and level three support

• Good communication, presentation and analytical skills
• Ability to learn the fast-track technologies in the Digital world
• Good organizational skills with ability to manage time and prioritize workload
• Flexibility to deal with changing projects and priorities in a short space of time
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new methods and processes
• Strong relationship building, persuasion, and collaboration skills that drives internal- and cross-team constructive feedback and support
• Willingness to track, assess, and incorporate practice and technology developments into day-to-day working
• Good understanding of the business capability / user journey, wider organizational goals, and desired product business outcomes
• Understanding of both the current Telecommunications and digital services market and emerging business and technology trends

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

• Proficient in English both spoken and written
• Experience in building REST APIs & Cloud Native Microservices
• Experience in Java, Spring Boot
• Understanding of Docker & Kubernetes
• Knowledge of CI/CD supporting tools (Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub etc.)
• Good knowledge of Network Communication/Integration protocols (SOAP, REST JSON)
• Unit testing, including use of mocking frameworks
