What you’ll do

Role purpose:  
Take end-to-end responsibility for the MAST power solution strategy designs with a profit and loss ownership of the power operations, including the Energy Management System (EMS), site power generation, electricity storage and all related electrical engineering solution optimisation requirements.  Plans, designs, organises, and oversees the construction or remodelling of energy generation site solutions for a national portfolio of sites. Evaluate energy related projects to reduce energy costs and improve energy efficiency. 

Develop cost-effective Power-as-a Service (PaaS) energy strategies for the MAST multitenant site sharing requirements, allowing for the solution to be integrated with independent power providers, while ensuring that power usage is accurately monitored and that billing capabilities are effectively provided.  This includes technical solution design, solution optimization and site power integration and maintenance planning, ensuring power reliability, with a full power total cost of ownership (profit and loss) responsibility.

Accountabilities:
Power as a Service (PaaS) 
•    Responsible for the development of site-specific power strategies for different customers, this includes the development of technical specifications for different power solution requirements and the support requirements for the implementation and maintenance of these different power solutions nationally.  
•    Analyses and modification of new and existing electrical engineering technologies to be applied with experience in the testing, implementation, and delivery of electrical engineering projects.
•    Plans, designs, organises, and oversees the construction or remodelling of energy generation site solutions for a national portfolio of sites. Evaluate energy related projects to reduce energy costs and improve energy efficiency. 
Thought Leader 
•    Trusted and respected as a thought leader and change agent who can influence and persuade business and MAST Leadership Team.  
•    Including people management, team effectiveness, people development, employee engagement 
Supplier /Contract Management
•    Develop governance structures to monitor, evaluate and manage supplier, contractors, and 3rd party’s performance (SLA/KPI) against their contracted scope of work and benchmark best practice. 

 Financial Management & Reporting
•    Formulate and manage the power related operational elements CAPEX and OPEX budgets. 
•    Including developing dashboards to enable management visibility. 

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
•    Deep understanding of existing, new and emerging telecommunications energy generation, distribution, storage and management technologies.
•    Strong management experience across multiple delivery areas and vendors, including strong programme management across a complex delivery area.
•    Problem-solving skills, able to navigate through difficult negotiations, including business and financial acumen.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to distil complex technical concepts into simple terms, with strong persuasion skills to gain support for principles, standards, and change
•    Excellent relationship building, teamwork, and collaboration skills that enables the provision of effective support and guidance across programmes
•    Proven track record on key outputs/disciplines 
•    Proven track record of the ability to apply technical knowledge in the analyses of accurate comparisons and reviews of various solution designs and the development of realistic return on investment (ROI) operational financial models.

Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

•    Grade 12 is essential.
•    Relevant 3 year Bachelor’s degree is essential
•    Post Grad and/or MBA is an advantage
•    Minimum of 8-10 years of hands-on working experience within the telecommunications sector, with essential working knowledge of multitenant site power operations relating to; site power monitoring, site power management (energy data) and the development of site power performance improvement.
•    Minimum of 5 years of either electrical or power solution design experience, preferably within a research and development (R&D) team, able to design, evaluate and implement different site power solutions, with a 3-5 year leadership experience is essential.
