What you’ll do

Role purpose:

Accountable for full ownership of all aspects related to the accurate and complete recording of all accounting transactions in order to compile the MAST Financial Statements (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow statements). This must be compliant with International Financial Reporting Standards and Shareholder Policies. Key aspects include leading the Annual Financial Standards finalisation, management of the external audit, any internal audits and the implementation of SOX and other internal controls.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Member of the management leadership team (MANCO – extended leadership at MAST).
  • Responsible for all International Financial Reporting Standards reporting including statutory accounts.
  • Ownership of the ERP’s financial processes and manual processes within Finance
  • Accountable to define and manage any outsourced capacity required by FinOps
  • End to end responsibility for all financial processes impacting the trial balance
  • Lead on the design and  implement efficiencies e.g. process automation and/or digitisation
  • Accountable for the reconciliation of the general ledger as well as sub-ledgers such as AP, AR and FAR.
  • Responsible for all FinOps related stakeholder reporting for interim and year end, including tax reporting.
  • Lead on all audit relations e.g. External Auditor, Internal Auditor, Tax Authority.
  • Manages the internal controls applicable to financials including SOX controls.
  • Effectively manage the the FinOps team  of professionals by providing leadership, problem solving and decision making aligned to our entrepreneurial high performance cultural framework.
  • Manage key stakeholders including Vodacom South Africa

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

  • A Financial degree or equivalent is essential.
  • CA(SA) is essential.
  • A minimum of 8 to 10 years relevant experience in a telecoms or technology company, including a minimum of 5 years applied experience in a multinational/multi-location team and matrix organisations.
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience are essential.
