Role Purpose/Business Unit:

 

This role will lead and direct the sales, commercial and go to market strategy function. This pivotal role will cover strategic partnerships and platforms. Success is measured by the ability to create sustained revenue growth and an effective customer and buyer experience through achieving and driving customer value propositions. The role and business unit aligns to Vodacom’s repositioning to a TechComm. The business unit accordingly is focused on establishing value and purpose driven digital media products and opportunities for both B2B and B2C components. The role is supported by Technology, Product, Marketing and Data functions, which collectively is tasked with delivering on compelling advertising solutions to our clients.

We seek an individual who can manage deliverables through leadership of the sales team and respective commercial channels, so as to maintain and grow an account base. Inherently able to:

  • Able to manage a team remotely, across multiple provinces and countries 
  • A self-starter personality with a ‘Can do’ focus. 
  • Good understanding of Technology, Media and Advertising
  • Able to grasp Ad and Martech technologies
  • Programmatic and media-buying efficiency
  • Able to respond to changing world of advertising
  • Sell solutions, not just product
  • Ensure delivery of financial and operational targets aligned to strategic targets
  • Need to be able to monitor all revenue pipelines- manage prospects and leads throughout all stages of the sales funnel. 
  • Need to work closely with functional departments to ensure working in tandem.
  • Pricing review and analysis
  • Partner development, strategy and competitive analysis
  • Business Case development and review
  • Rest of Africa experience a plus
  • Financial, budget and business modelling experience idea
  • Critically, needs to be effective in building and maintaining people relationships

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Constant focus on staff development to improve customer experience and channel management. 
  • Ensure sales expansion across channels in the region.
  • Proven track record of performance against sales targets
  • Create and implement incentive models that will drive achievement of targets across channels.
  • Provide clear direction to business partners to improve internal and external customer experience.
  • Develop regional team to assist them to achieve their targets.
  • Ensure that the regional teams maintain high levels of product knowledge.
  • Resolve escalated customer queries from channel areas.
  • Manage and lead the team (people management).
  • Engage business partners on an on-going basis using structured methodology.
  • Create and maintain key account engagement with dealers, franchisees and wholesale partners.
  • Ensure on-going implementation of regional operating model
  • Manage OPEX spend for the division

The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:

 

Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

  • Matric is essential. 
  • 3-year business / sales degree or equivalent qualification. Post graduate qualification is advantageous
  • At least 8-10 years’ experience of which, 4-5 in a senior ad sales role    
  • Overall, at least 5 years leadership/people management experience is essential.
