Role purpose:

To support Vodacom DRC’s corporate reputation, media presence, and stakeholder engagement by developing and executing strategic communication initiatives across traditional and digital platforms. The role ensures consistent, impactful messaging that aligns with Vodacom’s brand, vision, and social impact, while maintaining strong relationships with media, public institutions, and the broader community.

Key accountabilities:

1.    Media Relations & Publicity

•    Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets (TV, radio, print, digital).
•    Coordinate media interviews, press briefings, and press conferences.
•    Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and official statements.
•    Monitor media coverage and generate regular reports on media sentiment and brand visibility.

2.     Corporate Communication & Reputation Management

•    Craft clear, strategic corporate messaging aligned with Vodacom’s purpose and values.
•    Develop executive speeches, op-eds, talking points, Q&As, and key messages for public appearances.
•    Manage corporate branding and positioning in all external communication channels.
•    Support crisis communication planning and response, ensuring reputation risks are mitigated.

3.     Content Development & Storytelling
•    Produce compelling written and visual content for external communication (newsletters, blogs, social media, corporate videos).
•    Develop communication materials for strategic initiatives (e.g., digital inclusion, ESG, innovation, gender equality).
•    Ensure messaging consistency across public channels in French and English.

4.    Digital & Social Media Communication
•    Support Vodacom’s online presence through content creation for LinkedIn, Twitter/X, YouTube, and corporate website.
•    Monitor social media engagement, trends, and public sentiment.
•    Coordinate digital campaigns around product launches, events, and social impact programs.

5.    Event Communication & Sponsorship Visibility
•    Provide communication support for public events, conferences, and sponsorship activations.
•    Draft communication plans and coordinate media coverage for Vodacom-led initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

•    Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
•    3–5 years of experience in external or corporate communications, ideally within telecoms, media, or multinational environments
•    Excellent writing and editing skills in French and English (Lingala is a plus)
•    Solid media network and experience in engaging with press.
•    Proficiency in communication tools and platforms (social media, CMS, media monitoring tools)
•    Experience managing reputational risk and communication in crisis contexts.
