Activities in Finance Operations: 

Finance Operations is responsible for managing key processes involved in ensuring the accuracy of actual accounting information and preparing the financial statements. The key processes are owned by specific global process owners. In addition, Finance Operations manages systems strategy and governance, and master data.

Role purpose

• Accounting and reporting of performance actuals
• Internal controls over financial reporting
 

Key Responsabilities

• Define financial and operational targets for the business based on inputs received from relevant sources 
• Co-ordinate the intra monthly forecast based upon accurate trending of key indices with strong focus on anticipating and managing month-end results, and on management actions for the following months 
• Co-ordinate the process of individual target setting in collaboration with the responsible department
• Ensure alignment on statutory information, Group requirements and other stakeholder requirements 
• Build and maintain market models 
• Build and define Finance MI requirements 
• Lead the monthly performance review process and present the results to management
• Co-ordinate and prepare analysis that provides insight on the overall business performance of the company
• Governance (including supervisory and worker committee etc.)

Performance KPI's


• Timeliness and accuracy of all financial reporting
- OHADA for GSM entity
- GCEC for mobile money entity
- IFRS for both entities

• Process KPIs for effectiveness 
• Satisfactory audit results 

1.    General Ledger Accounting

• Guarantee the complete, accurate and timely accounting of all transactions relevant to the General Ledger, including preparation and posting of all accruals Responsibilities cover
• Ensure that all transactions are reflected in EVO general ledger for both OHADA & GCEC
• Comply with tax laws, relevant accounting principles, OHADA, GCEC, SOX and Group policies
• Support the requirement for having a GCEC and OHADA compliant period end close process
• Execution of all general ledger standard controls and retention of audit evidence of the completed controls
• Maintain coding structures (General ledger, cost centre, profit centre) that meet both Group reporting and OHADA and GCEC analysis requirements.
• The manager will be expected to do accounting for the Vodacom Foundation as well

2. Preparation of Statutory Accounts 

• Preparation of Statutory Accounts (GCEC & OHADA)
• Prepare supplementary schedules for statutory reporting
• Guarantee the compilation of the entity’s financial statements and financial statutory reporting in compliance with all the relevant GAAPs (GCEC & OHADA)
• Achieve the fair presentation of the financial position, performance and cash flows of each entity
• Lead local monthly, interim and annual closing process 
• Draw up financial information required by external bodies
• Ensuring adequate control schedules are available for management review and audit purposes
• Support the internal and external statutory audit reviews.
• Ensure completion of Half Year and Year End certification processes 


3. Tax accounting for both indirect and direct taxes in accordance with policies

• Comply with tax laws and relevant accounting principles and Group policies
• Support any relevant Tax duty
• The transactional processes & activities to ensure that processes for handling direct, indirect and withholding taxes are performed in accordance with local tax statutory requirements and internal tax reporting is in accordance with Vodafone Group International Accounting Policies (VGIAP's).
• Manage preparation of corporate tax computations as completely and accurately as possible, for review and consolidation where needed by Tax teams. 
• Preparation of withholding tax and indirect tax obligations subject only to high-level validation by the Tax teams.

4.    Record to Report – Advisory on Accounting Issues


• Ensure the correct treatment of accounting principles according to national and international accounting policies and VGIAP
• Support financial departments responding to queries relating to the application and interpretation of accounting principles
• Interpret complex accounting issues and translate into practical explanations and applications (to be understood by business partners)
• Provide support in changes in legal structure and to other stakeholders (e.g. Group) when required
• Ensure appropriate purchase and disposal accounting entries
• Accounting for changes in group structure
• Ensure appropriate accounting entries for any changes in ownership structure responsibility for management of working capital and delivery of cash targets 


 

Qualification and Experience

• University degree in finance, economics and/or business administration. 
• 4 + years’ experience in transactional operational environment 
• SOX, IFRS, OHADA and GCEC knowledge 
• ERP operational knowledge (SAP and HFM)
• Keen on controls & financial discipline
