SNMGR Device & Terminals
Job Purpose
To lead the strategic planning, procurement, and lifecycle management of all mobile devices, terminals, and accessories offered by Vodacom.
This role ensures that the right products are available at the right time and price, supporting customer acquisition, retention, and revenue growth.
The Senior Manager will also manage supplier relationships, inventory, and distribution channels to optimize the device ecosystem.
Key Accountabilities / Deliverables
Device Strategy Development: Define and execute a comprehensive device strategy aligned with market trends, customer needs, and business objectives.
Supplier & OEM Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with global and local device manufacturers. Negotiate pricing, exclusivity, and promotional support.
Inventory & Logistics Oversight: Forecast demand, manage stock levels, and coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and availability across all sales channels.
Market Intelligence: Monitor competitor offerings, customer preferences, and emerging technologies to inform product selection and pricing strategies.
Sales Enablement: Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop go-to-market plans, promotional campaigns, and training for frontline staff.
Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all devices meet regulatory standards and internal quality benchmarks before market release.
Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Experience
- In-depth knowledge of mobile device ecosystems, supply chain management, and telecom distribution models.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Experience in managing large vendor portfolios and complex logistics operations.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data and drive strategic decisions.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Device availability rate across channels.
- Sell-through rates and revenue contribution from devices.
- Inventory turnover ratio and stock aging.
- Supplier performance metrics (e.g., delivery timelines, defect rates).
- Customer satisfaction with device offerings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in device management, preferably in telecom or consumer electronics.
- Certifications in supply chain, procurement, or project management are advantageous.
Working Conditions / Environment
Office-based with frequent travel to supplier sites, warehouses, and retail outlets.
