SPEC Fixed Wireless Planning & Perform
Role purpose
Planning, Design & Test
- Develop medium- and long-term strategies for Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), enterprise wireless, and broadband connectivity solutions.
- Define network architecture roadmaps aligned with business growth, customer demand, and technology evolution.
- Conduct capacity planning and forecasting for radio, transmission, and customer premises equipment (CPE).
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to support network modernization and innovation.
- Align with VBU & CBU strategy on FTTH \ B network and generate the scopes of work
- Design end-to-end Fixed Wireless network architectures, including:
- Radio Access Network (RAN)
- Microwave and millimeter wave backhaul
- Customer Premises Equipment (CPE)
- IP/MPLS transport
- AAA and subscriber management systems
- Produce High-Level Designs (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD).
- Define technical specifications and standards for equipment selection and deployment.
- Conduct Proof of Concepts (PoC) and interoperability testing.
- Validate vendor solutions and ensure integration with existing OSS/BSS and core network platforms.
- Establish acceptance criteria and test plans.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and security policies.
- In-charge of Next Generation Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), enterprise wireless, and broadband connectivity solutions Proof Of Concept
Performances Management
- Define and monitor Fixed Wireless network KPIs and SLAs.
- Analyze network performance and customer experience indicators.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend optimization actions.
- Lead root cause analysis for recurring network issues.
- Develop dashboards and reports on network health and service quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance network availability and efficiency.
- Interface with the Enterprise solution Active Equipment Suppliers for new Features implementation and Software upgrades.
Technical Support
- Provide Level 2/3 (L2/3) technical support for Fixed Wireless services and infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues related to radio, transport, IP, and customer connectivity.
- Support Operations teams during major incidents and escalations.
- Collaborate with vendors for issue resolution and software/hardware upgrades.
- Develop troubleshooting procedures and technical guidelines.
- Train Operations and Support teams on new technologies and architectures.
- Participate in technical audits and risk assessments.
- Technical Support to Vodacom Business Unit on Enterprise solution services SLA
- Support Enterprise solution field maintenance teams with infrastructure planning details
Key accountabilities
Project Implementation
- Lead technical implementation of Fixed Wireless projects from design to acceptance.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, vendors, and Operations teams during deployment.
- Ensure projects are delivered within scope, budget, and timelines.
- Review and approve installation standards and implementation procedures.
- Manage technical risks and dependencies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct site acceptance testing (SAT) and factory acceptance testing (FAT).
- Ensure smooth handover of deployed solutions to Operations teams.
D.B Management
- Keep an updated record of the Fixed Wireless & Enterprise solutionsresources allocations & utilization
- Keep a records of Enterprise solutions documents (as-built, Network diagram, …)
- Keep updated the Fixed Wireless network & Enterprise solution planning and performances databases with most accurate information, provide access to authorized staffs \ users
Compliance
- Follow up on new project implementations, enforcing the compliance with the SoW and HSE
- Enforce the compliance to Vodafone HSE standard by Fixed Wireless network & Enterprise solution Suppliers.
Administration
- Issue RFP, RFQ, Armonize for New Project
- Evaluate fiber Suppliers and Vendors performances
- Manage the Fixed Wireless & Enterprise solutions Active Equipment stock and outbound, ensuring 5% spares parts for each project.
Skills and Computer Abilities
- Network and Design Tools skills (Visio, AutoCAD …)
- Data Analysis & Reporting skills (excel, Microsoft Power BI, SQL and database querying, Data visualization and dashboarding tools, Power Point …)
- Network Management & Monitoring(NMS, OSS platform, …)
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Master's degree is an advantage.
- 8–12 years of experience in telecommunications, with at least 5 years in Fixed Wireless, Radio, or Enterprise Network Architecture.
- Experience with LTE/4G FWA deployments and enterprise wireless solutions.
- Relevant certifications are an advantage, such as:
- Cisco CCNP Enterprise
- Cisco CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure
- Vendor certifications from major telecom equipment providers.
