What you’ll do

Role purpose:

As a HR Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in enabling high performance, agility, and strategic alignment across our the Technology Functions. In a fast-paced, regulated telecoms and fintech environment, you will partner with senior executives to shape the people strategy, lead transformation, and ensure capability readiness to deliver business results. 
Provide strategic and high-level specialist services through the management of processes and efficient service flow, ensuring consistent employee experience, business legislative risk management, and all ER-related cases in the technology function. Create an environment that enables driving performance and employee engagement across business areas by partnering with business leaders to define and implement relevant and appropriate people plans. 

 

Key Accountabilities:

1.    People Planning:
•    Contribute to the functional people plan fully aligned with Vodacom/functional strategy.
•    Drive the delivery of functional initiatives on an ongoing basis.
2.    Organization Effectiveness & Change:
•    Support and deliver functional change programs and OE activities in business areas.
•    Interface with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with cross-functional change activities.
•    Contribute to monthly and quarterly organization reviews.
•    Deliver against employment Opex targets in business areas.
•    Ensure organization clarity and alignment in business areas, e.g., RACI, role profiles, role titles.
•    Ensure data integrity of people-related information in the business unit.
•    Drive organization efficiency in business areas (ensuring compliance with agreed spans & layers targets).
•    Act as a tactical sparring partner, engaging in the effectiveness of the BU, processes, systems, data, and people.
•    Drive the HR agenda within the BU, ensuring that all people managers are equipped and able to deliver against the annual recurring people management requirements.
•    Propose, develop, and deliver key functional change programs in collaboration with COE.

3.    Cultural Change:
•    Play a key role in supporting leaders to embed spirt of Vodacom and related people/HR policies.
•    Provide leadership of cultural change in business areas/areas of responsibility.
•    Challenge and improve people policies/processes/practices to ensure alignment with The Spirit of Vodacom and new ways of working.
•    Challenge and support leaders in business areas to align behaviors/attitudes to The Spirit of Vodacom and new ways of working.
4.    Performance and Reward:
•    Ensure active management of poor performers in business areas.
•    Partner with business leaders to drive group initiatives on Performance Development.
•    Drive reward initiatives within your function
5.    Talent & Resourcing:
•    Collaborate with the TM team to deliver a pipeline of diverse future leaders and accelerate high potential development in Technology business area.
•    Contribute to Talent Reviews across the function and follow through on outcomes in business areas; ensure robust talent, succession, and scenario plans are in place, facilitating performance and potential calibration.
•    Actively support all talent management programs 
•    Support the Diversity & Inclusion agenda in business areas.
•    Play a key part in senior resourcing for business areas (in partnership with Resourcing colleagues). Interview and calibrate agreed/key management in business areas.
6.    Leadership and Management Development:
•    Ensure understanding of management development programs to ensure effective development at key transition points on the management/leadership ladder and drive uptake of development programs relevant to BU-specific priorities.
•    Coach executives across business areas, in collaboration with COEs.
7.    Communications & Engagement:
•    Partner with leadership to ensure teams have a clear understanding of the relationship between Vodacom (business), functional, team, and individual goals and their role in contributing towards the delivery of the overall strategy.
•    Focus the business areas on continuously improving employee engagement by facilitating the development of the People Survey action plan, etc.
8.    Relationship Management & Partnering:
•    Build a high 'support & challenge' relationship with leadership team members.
•    'Walk the tightrope' of being part of the business areas yet maintaining an objective HR perspective.
9.    Employee Relations Risk Management:
•    Conduct ER impact and risk assessments and ensure that ER processes, including grievances, incapacity, and discipline, are properly coordinated.

 

What we are looking in you:
•    A relevant 3-year degree/diploma (e.g., Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Management, etc.) - essential.
•    A post-graduate qualification will be advantageous.
•    Experience in IT/Telecom sectors in a Business Partner capacity.
•    Over 8 years of applicable experience in Human Resources, with at least 4–5 years in HR Business Partnering roles
•    2 years of experience as an HR professional interfacing with senior leadership 
•    Experience in supporting organizational change.
•    Foundational knowledge and/or experience in change management, people organization plans.
•    Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
•    Excellent written and verbal communication
•    High energy, ownership, and problem-solving ability
