What you’ll do
Role purpose:
The TCM Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely execution of key treasury and cash management activities. This includes daily bank account reconciliations, M-Pesa reconciliations, confirmation and allocation of collections received from various stakeholders, management of direct debit collections, oversight of street vendor operations, and petty cash administration.
The role also supports internal and external audit requests, ensures compliance with internal controls and policies, and contributes to the update of procedures. The TCM Accountant will further be responsible for month end closing activities and preparation of related reports.
Additionally, the position is expected to recommend and support the implementation of process improvements and digitalization initiatives to enhance efficiency and control.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure timely and accurate allocation of all transactions reflected in bank and M Pesa statements on a daily basis;
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all recorded transactions;
- Prepare month end reports in accordance with internal deadlines and accounting standards;
- Coordinate month-end closing activities and support with internal and external audit requests as required;
- Recommend to the management process improvements to align with digital transformation and lead team projects as required;
What we are looking in you:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field;
- An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements;
- Knowledge of General Accounting practices, IFRS and PGC NIRF;
- Strong excel skills will be an added advantage;
- Passionate about process transformation and digitalization;
- Good communication skills both written and verbal. (English and Portuguese).
