Business Manager: Group CFO

Role Purpose/Business Unit:

 

  • The incumbent will report directly to the Group CFO and should have a strong financial background and good project management knowledge as well as an in-depth knowledge of the business and industry. 
  • To increase the available time and agility of the Group CFO in order to focus his time, effort and priorities on strategic initiatives
  • To act as liaison between the Group CFO and other stakeholders both internal and external
  • To be responsible for all the data reporting needs within the Group CFO’s Office to integrate into Exco and board reports 
  • To assist the Group CFO with various functions ranging from pro-active financial analysis to business project management.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Business Intelligence

  • Understand the BI tools available and being able to obtain relevant information from the various source systems
  • Conduct and analyse financial performance and indicators per segment against main competitors and industry standards
  • Monitor progress against assigned strategic initiatives and deliverables
  • Report on deviations that could derail the achievements against targets


Support the CFO’s Office

  • Deliver actionable measurement for all impacting projects and initiatives
  • Manage creation of consistent and integrated improvement 
  • Facilitate the dissemination and receipt of key information by working closely with the Group CFO and his leadership team


Financial review and analysis

  • Work closely with the Finance Business Partner to analyse and interpret financial information to ensure that Vodacom Group operates within budget requirements
  • Prepare executive summaries and updates on expenditure/cost against deliverables
  • Proactively engage with Vodacom Group Finance Leadership  on operational and reporting items as required from time to time
  • Monitor the implementation of cost saving initiatives

Reporting and Governance

  • Ensure a sound reporting framework is in place which is aligned to the Vodacom / Vodafone standards
  • Ensure that good governance principles are adhered to with the Group CFO
  • Co-ordinate and drive monthly reports and reviews as required by the Group CFO with a focus on critically filtering and prioritising key pieces of information
  • Prepare the necessary documentations and presentations as required for internal and external audiences by prioritising and validating information that facilitates sound decision making
  • Evaluate commercial information and recommend compelling value propositions 
  • Provide analysis and reporting for Exco and Board of Directors
  • Ensure business decision are implemented and executed within the approved and accepted governance framework

 

Ad hoc requirements

  • Monitor progress on allocated projects deliverables

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

 

Matric / Grade 12 essential 
Minimum of 3 year relevant Degree/ National Diploma or is essential
Business related courses completed is essential 
A business related MBA is strongly preferred
Minimum of 8 years relevant experience:
Managing functional responsibilities at a senior manager level within a Corporate environment 
Telecommunications Project management
Managing / building relationships at Executive level
Providing financial analysis at Executive Management level
Minimum of 2yrs Leadership/Management experience (an advantage)

Relevant business courses completed 
Minimum of  10 years relevant experience:
Managing functional responsibilities at a senior manager level within a Corporate environment 
Telecommunications Project management
Managing / building relationships at Executive level
Providing financial analysis at Executive Management level
Minimum of 2yrs Leadership/Management experience (an advantage)
Candidate will be required to be available to the Chief Officer outside of regulated working hours
