Business Manager to the Finance Director: VSA

Role Purpose/Business Unit:
- This role is an enabling role that provides strategic, operational and governance support to the Finance Director of Vodacom South Africa (FD: VSA).
- The role ensures that the FD VSA’s agenda is translated into clear priorities, disciplined execution and high‑quality decision support, while maintaining strong alignment with:
- The CEO agenda for Vodacom South Africa, and
- The Vodacom Group CFO agenda and governance requirements.
- The Vodafone Finance agenda and governance requirements.
- The role operates as a chief‑of‑staff–type function, integrating strategy execution, performance management, stakeholder coordination and governance discipline across the FD’s office.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Strategic Enablement of the FD
- Act as a trusted advisor and execution partner to the FD.
- Translate FD priorities into actionable plans with clear milestones, ownership and outcomes.
- Provide independent challenge, synthesis and insight on complex strategic and operational matters.
- Own and manage the FD’s strategic and operational initiatives.
- Ensure alignment of FD’s initiatives with CEO: Vodacom SA, Vodacom Group CFO and Vodafone Finance priorities.
- Track progress, risks, interdependencies and benefits realisation.
2. Business Intelligence and Enterprise Performance and Insight
- Support enterprise‑level financial and operational performance reviews.
- Identify emerging risks, performance gaps and opportunities requiring FD’s intervention.
- Ensure consistent performance narratives across Finance, the CEO’s Office, Group, and Vodafone interfaces.
3. Executive, Board & Governance Support, and Risk and Controls
- Lead preparation and coordination of FD’s inputs for:
- Vodacom South Africa ExCo
- Board and Board Sub-Committees
- Vodacom Group CFO and Group governance forums
- Vodafone Finance requirements
- Ensure decisions, actions and commitments are documented, tracked and delivered.
- Support the FD in maintaining strong financial governance, risk management and compliance standards.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, audit trails and decision records are maintained.
4. Ad hoc requirements
- Lead or support high‑priority initiatives on behalf of the FD
- Monitor progress on allocated projects deliverables
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Finance / Accounting / Business Administration / Commerce / Strategy / Management Sciences or equivalent
- Postgraduate qualification or MBA Advantageous
- Professional Qualifications or Certifications
Job experience:
- At least 8 years’ experience, preferably in finance, strategy, business performance management, or related roles.
- Minimum of 2 years Leadership/Management experience
- Experience working directly with C‑Suite Executives.
- Experience preparing materials for ExCo, Board, Vodafone Finance and Group governance forums.
- Leading cross-functional initiatives in fast-paced, complex environments.
- Experience in translating executive priorities into actionable plans, tracking milestones, risks, dependencies, and benefits.
- Converting data into executive-ready insights and recommendations for C-Suite Executives.
