Role Purpose/Business Unit:

 

  • This leadership role is responsible for providing data-driven insights into business performance, supporting strategic decision-making across sales, marketing, and operations and systems support. The Team Lead will oversee a team responsible for reporting and analysis, including commission policy management, customer segmentation and intelligence, target management, business operations analysis, and sales systems support.
  • Works closely with the various Sales and Back-office teams to enable the business growth ambitions.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Strategy Formulation & Execution:

  • Develop, track and report on key metrics related to sales, marketing, operations, and overall business performance.
  • Analyse business data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities to inform proactive and reactive strategies.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses to address specific business questions through a data-driven approach, supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Design and maintain commission policy that align with business objectives and incentivise desired sales behaviours.
  • Analyse the effectiveness of commission policies, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Manage commission-related inquiries and disputes.
  • Develop and maintain customer segmentation models based on Vodacom Business customer models.
  • Analyse customer data to generate intelligence for sales and marketing teams to support targeted campaigns and personalised engagements.
  • Develop and maintain customer profiles, including their purchase history, preferences, and engagements.
  • Develop and implement realistic and achievable targets with and for sales teams.
  • Provide support to sales teams on the use of sales systems.
  • Collaborate with IT to implement system upgrades and enhancements .

Business Enablement

  • Prepare regular sales and operational performance reports and communicate key findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather and integrate data to ensure a single source of truth, accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor sales performance against targets while identifying and providing feedback on any gaps or areas of focus and improvement.
  • Monitor the effectiveness Business Operations and suggest areas of improvement.


Stakeholder Management

  • Build collaborative partnerships and alliances for sales success.
  • Manage and collaborate with Vodacom Business management and sales leadership to develop growth plans for the Business
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., product, marketing) to improve bid competitiveness: Ensure alignment on offerings, pricing, and value proposition.
  • Collaborate, champion and enable effective leadership and cross-functional working relationships to create a unique, superior customer experience based on leadership practice.
  • Provide specialised and technical support to internal and external stakeholders to ensure achievement of functional and organisational objectives
  • Establish and monitor healthy, diverse internal relations and implement remedial actions where required, in the achievement of organisational goals.
  • Develop and maintain key account relationships with channel partners, ensuring that channel partners are aligned to the customer experience expectations and to the sales partner strategy framework.

Delivering through People:

  • Set team goals and objectives aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Build a high performance & diverse organisation, focused on generating growth opportunities from clients and prospects, and driving unique growth and development opportunities in line with relevant revenue & margin targets to be achieved.
  • Support and enable the team to succeed by driving skills development and future-fit talent in line with business strategy
  • Oversee the activities of the team to ensure effective delivery of business outcomes.
  • Support and enable the team to succeed by encourage frequent knowledge sharing between team members, amongst other enablement initiatives.
  • Develop a high performing team by embedding formal performance management process, informal coaching and continuous 1:1 performance discussions
  • Embed the Spirit of Vodacom by living the Spirit behaviours and culture codes, ensuring consistently high Spirit engagement levels.
  • When required, initiate disciplinary processes for team members calling on support from HR when required
  • Resolve grievances raised by team members and escalate only if required
  • Motivate team members and ensure that their efforts are recognised by using Vodafone Stars platform.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

 

  • Minimum 8 years’ Business and Data Analytics experience in related environments e.g. (ICT) with demonstrated experience in:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Experience with sales systems
    • Strong understanding of sales and customer lifecycles.
    • General management skills – particularly strategy, finance; marketing and HR
  • +5 years management consulting and people management experience

 

Technical Competencies 

  • Strategic mind set and out of box thinking
  • Experience in solution selling within enterprise customers
  • Deep understanding of the customer’s business, it’s market and industry alongside key decision-makers and influencers in account organisation
  • Ability to translate customer’s objectives and strategy into relevant Vodacom Business propositions
  • Robust understanding of account P&L
  • Experience working in multinational matrix organisation
  • Successful track record of managing multi- industry sales teams and demonstrate profitable revenue growth
  • Strategic Thinking: Effectively delivers against assigned strategy, exceeding expectations. Translates strategy into clear areas of focus and priorities
