Role Purpose/Business Unit:
- Lead the Pricing & Analytics function within CBU Commercial Management, ensuring that pricing decisions, commercial analytics, performance diagnostics and analytical decision support are designed, governed and deployed to improve revenue, margin, quality growth, retention and network monetisation outcomes.
- The role is accountable for the commercial pricing discipline across CBU, including pricing governance, price architecture, elasticity logic, margin assurance, pricing transformation inputs, scenario modelling and post-implementation measurement.
- The role leads analytics across product, customer, channel, region, segment and network dimensions to identify performance drivers, commercial risks and value opportunities. The function converts data into analytical outputs, models and evidence-based recommendations for Commercial Management, Segment Management, Sales Channels, Regions, Finance, Network and Technology.
- The role will interface closely with Big Data, IT and Technology teams to leverage enterprise data assets, analytical engines and reporting platforms. Big Data remains accountable for enterprise data platforms, pipelines and analytical infrastructure, while this role defines commercial analytics requirements and translates analytical outputs into pricing and commercial decisions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Pricing governance and architecture: Own pricing governance, price architecture, pricing guardrails, elasticity modelling, margin protection and pricing decision support across CBU.
- Pricing transformation and scenario modelling: Lead scenario analysis, price sensitivity assessments, migration logic, price increase impact assessments and post-implementation reviews to support disciplined commercial decisions.
- Commercial analytics leadership: Lead analytics across product, customer, channel, regional, segment and network dimensions to identify performance drivers, commercial risks and value opportunities.
- Performance decomposition and diagnostics: Provide analytical decomposition of revenue, ARPU, churn, gross adds, retention, mix, margin, channel and regional performance to inform commercial choices.
- Forecasting and planning support: Support business planning, reforecasting, target setting and commercial scenario evaluation through robust analytical models and assumptions.
- Channel and regional analytics: Provide analytical support to understand channel and regional performance, conversion, deal effectiveness, affordability, customer movement and commercial efficiency.
- Network monetisation analytics: Provide commercial analytics and modelling inputs into 4G, 5G, FWA, capacity, coverage and network monetisation opportunities in partnership with Network and Technology.
- Big Data interface and analytics requirements: Work with Big Data as the provider of enterprise data platforms, pipelines and analytical engines, while defining the commercial analytics requirements and validating output relevance for CBU use cases.
- Analytics governance and measurement: Maintain consistent KPI definitions, analytical methodologies, data interpretation standards and post-implementation measurement logic across pricing and analytics work.
- Dashboards and reporting standards: Ensure key commercial dashboards, scorecards and performance reports are accurate, fit-for-purpose, timely and aligned to agreed definitions.
- Performance governance: Own pricing and analytics governance forums, performance decomposition packs and executive-ready recommendations for Commercial Management and CBU decision forums.
- Leadership and capability building: Build and lead a high-performing Pricing & Analytics team with strong pricing, modelling, commercial analytics, data storytelling and stakeholder management capability.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- 3-year degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, Business or minimum 10 year proven experience in Analytics and/or Pricing role.
- Post-graduate qualification such as MBA, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Analytics or Commercial Management advantageous.
- Relevant experience in telecoms, consumer commercial management, pricing, analytics, revenue management or commercial performance strongly advantageous.
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
- Minimum 8 to 10 years relevant experience across pricing, analytics, commercial management, revenue management, finance, product, strategy or telecoms commercial roles.
- 3 to 5 years senior leadership experience with cross-functional accountability and exposure to executive-level decision forums.
- Deep understanding of CBU commercial drivers including ARPU, revenue, margin, gross adds, quality gross adds, churn, retentions, migrations, device economics, affordability and channel performance.
- Strong pricing expertise, including price architecture, elasticity, scenario modelling, margin assurance, dilution management, migration and pricing transformation.
- Strong analytics capability with the ability to interpret data across customer, product, channel, region, segment, market and network dimensions.
- Good understanding of Big Data, enterprise data platforms, analytics tooling, data governance and the boundaries between data engineering and commercial analytics interpretation.
- Ability to translate complex analytics into simple, decision-ready outputs for senior and executive audiences.
- Strong stakeholder influence across Segment Management, Finance, Sales, Regions, Trade Marketing, Commercial Enablement, Partnerships, Big Data, Network and Technology.
- Strong commercial judgement and ability to balance revenue, margin, customer, affordability, channel and network trade-offs.
- Proven ability to lead specialist teams through ambiguity, build analytical capability and embed operating rhythms across a complex organisation.
