Role Purpose/Business Unit:

Business excellence team within the Group International Business is responsible for delivering the Africa hub centralisation of the COE for FinOps. The team’s value proposition:

 

  • Process Excellence: Efficiency and effectiveness of business processes and systems. Define best practices, frameworks & policies.  Drive standardisation and alignment of best practice.
  • Governance and Controls: Design and implement risk management and controls to ensure compliance.
  • Innovation: Define and implementation of strategic and transformational targets leveraging on technology and best practices.
  • Financial Value: Support between operational, accounting teams, group and local market ensuring integrity and compliance of financial reporting. 

 

The Margin Assurance principal specialist will assist the Group EHOD: Margin Assurance to set out the Framework for the Global MA second line processes. Including, the effective delivery of activities to improve the process performance, creating and drive the vision, supporting local market margin assurance roadmaps, sharing best practise, driving key automations/innovations and providing IT solutions consulting support from programming, BI, business analyst to on-site implementation. The role requires constant working with local margin assurance executives and teams.

Knowledge is required of all the GSM Revenue streams process and key controls namely ( Post-pay, Prepay, Interconnect, Roaming, Fixed Line, IOT) and all MPESA Products ( Overdraft, Savings, Loans, IMT, Visa, Merchants, Paybillers etc) to execute governance tasks and provide consulting services like programming, data analysis, system implementation and design improvement to the market processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Margin Assurance GSM, MPESA, Fixed line

  • Develop and implement standardised methodologies for margin assurance assessments using the 1st and 2nd line methodology (i.e.  Business and MA accountabilities separate).
  • Update the Vodafone LRAM knowledge portal together with local MA and First line teams ( Leakage Risk Accountability Monitoring)
  • Identify missing Activities/controls within second line or first line revenue generation process
  • Provide Remote Consulting Type services for  -Solution programming support , business analyst services,  documentation of chosen central solutions
  • Perform ad hoc (yearly) MA operational quality assessment on-site
  • Perform Controls Gap Analysis

 

 

Manage the execution of strategic projects:

  • Set and drive the MA agenda for big change projects
  • Effectively manage Strategic projects, ensuring stakeholder buy-in and minimal disruption to market.
  • Implement communication plans to keep stakeholders informed of progress and anticipated outcomes.

 

 

Governance, Risk Management and Mitigation:

  • Develop and update Margin Assurance policies and procedures for key processes, ensuring effective internal controls are in place.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Africa and other departments to define ownership and accountability for control activities.
  • Using the Vodafone LRAM knowledge database – work with the market to Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including process improvements, and internal control enhancements
  • Coordinate with internal auditors, SOX, Group Risk, ensuring smooth and efficient audits and timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Foster a culture of control consciousness.

 

 

Performance Management and Reporting:

  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) aligning with Vodafone Group MA  to measure success
  • Regularly monitor and report on MA performance against agreed KPIs,  and recommendations for improvement.
  • Perform Onsite MA Assessments to identify trends and opportunities for service optimisation.
  • Champion a data-driven culture within the finance department by promoting the use of data analytics tools and insights.

Stakeholder Management: 

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation, fostering a deep understanding of their needs and expectations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders identify and drive the development of solutions that would cater to their business needs.
  • Effectively communicate the value and impact of service delivery initiatives.
  • Proactively address stakeholder concerns and ensure their satisfaction with service quality.

 

 

The ideal candidate for this role will have: 

  • Minimum of 8+ years relevant experience in a Margin Assurance environment
  • Working across multinational
  • Relevant degree / diploma in Commerce, Information Technology, Engineering, etc. (Essential)
  • Proficiency in SQL, Data Analytics

 

 

Job Knowledge:

  • MA / Billing Assurance Experience of MPESA, GSM and Fixed Line > 8 years
  • Understanding of Risk Management Methodology
  • Technical knowledge/experience of related systems (incl. interfaces)

 

Core competencies, knowledge and experience :

  • Process and controls knowledge across GSM Revenue Generation Steams and MPESA
  • SQL – programming knowledge
  • Experience of using Data like MDF feed for MPESA
  • Business Analyst Skills
  • System implementation Experience
  • Excellent facilitation skills
