Role Purpose/Business Unit:

 

The Product Owner for Marketplace and SaaS is responsible for defining and driving the vision, strategy, and execution of Vodacom’s Business Marketplace platform and its SaaS offerings. This role bridges business needs with technical execution, ensuring that products deliver value to enterprise customers across all segments — from SOHO and SMEs to large enterprises and public sector clients. The role is also responsible for driving the delivery and execution of SaaS products identified through Vodafone Group and Vodacom Group partnerships.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Define and maintain a clear vision aligned with Vodacom Group’s strategic goals and architecture guidance.
  • Develop and evolve the Marketplace platform to support all telco products and integrated SaaS solutions across OpCos.
  • Drive the long-term vision and strategy for the marketplace, positioning it as the “One Stop Shop” for digital solutions.
  • Drive the long-term strategic vision for SaaS solutions (Collaboration, Business Efficiency, Reporting, Financial Services, Cyber Security etc ) ensuring a comprehensive, high-quality mix that fulfils the top digital needs catering to Vodacom’s markets in Africa.
  • Drive the adoption and interest within the Vodacom Group markets towards the identified CyberSecurity portfolio of SaaS products

 

Backlog & Roadmap Management

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business priorities and customer needs.
  • Collaborate with local markets to identify the categories of SaaS products to be added to the future roadmap
  • Collaborate with group product managers across mobile, fixed, satellite and other core services to develop the roadmap for on boarding the strategic group products on marketplace platform.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with solution architects, business analysts, developers, and commercial teams to deliver scalable and reusable platform features.
  • Coordinate with leading and emerging Vodacom Group local markets to adapt the platform to regional needs while maintaining core functionality.

 

Customer-Centric Development

  • Act as the voice of the customer, gathering feedback and insights to inform product decisions.
  • Ensure frictionless digital experiences across web and app interfaces for direct and indirect sales channels.
  • Co-ordinate and work with the product managers across markets to oversee the end-to-end marketplace customer journey, from solution discovery and comparison to purchase, billing, and support handoff, seeking to minimize friction.

 

Release & Performance Management

  • Oversee product releases, ensuring quality and timely delivery of features.
  • Monitor product performance using KPIs such as user engagement, conversion rates, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee, monitor and manage product performance for Vodafone Global SaaS products with the Vodafone SaaS teams and the SaaS solution providers.

 

Product & Platform Document

  • Outlines the long-term goals, target market, and value proposition as and when needed for the platform and the group SaaS products on boarded on the platform
  • Document competitive analysis as needed to support and drive the group VB strategy for SaaS Products on the marketplace platform
  • Create detailed specifications for features, functionality, and user requirements through PRD, BRS, User Story mapping etc
  • Collaborate with Group Technology and development teams to create visual representation of development timeline
  • Describe, define and refine how users interact with the product and their experience through documenting journey maps and user stories

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

 

  • B Degree/Equivalent. Preferred with commercial and/or IT specialisation.
  • 5-10 years experience in product management in the SaaS or Marketplace domains, ideally within a telecommunications or technology-related (ICT) environment.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and backlog management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution.
  • Familiarity with enterprise customer segments and digital transformation initiatives.

The Product Owner will work within the Group Vodacom Business Products and Platforms team, reporting to Group leadership and coordinating with local market teams.
