Role Purpose/Business Unit:
The role of the Senior Administrator: Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining software systems, key focus is Datastage with and future state to expand to other data platforms
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining software systems, key focus is Datastage with and future state to expand to other data platforms.
- Evaluating and testing new software programs. key focus is Datastage with and future state to expand to other data platforms.
- Optimizing software for speed and scalability
- Writing and testing code
- Consulting with other developers, engineers, security specialists, and other stakeholders
- Presenting new features to stakeholders and internal customers
- To troubleshoot and resolve application and system issues, develop solutions, document correction processes, and ensure fixes are implemented and monitored.
- To compile incident reports, attend/conduct incident reviews, and follow through to ensure permanent fixes for production problems. In Operations this is normal as it’s a collaborative effort
- To interface with different role players (Vendors, Change Management, IT, Customer Care departments, etc.) to ensure that any operational changes or incidents are effectively and efficiently resolved, and a solution is implemented. In Operations this is normal as it’s a collaborative effort
- To plan and optimize change controls as a result of system/application upgrades and configuration changes, adhering to Change Control procedures.
- To be involved with and facilitate the process of acceptance and/or application performance testing to ensure a stable production environment.
- To input into capacity plans (e.g., stability, performance, storage, etc.) to ensure systems have resources for future growth.
- Ensuring the delivery of files/data and reporting systems (Service availability). Implementation of releases across applications in our environment (IT/IS rollouts).
- Ensuring secure connectivity between DataStage and source systems, internal and external
- Onboarding new application users' accounts on to relevant Cyber security systems.
- Monitor Datastage Application and Database Vulnerabilities.
- Ensure complete transferring of Source data (Service management).
- Performing standby duties across applications.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Skills and Experience
- Grade 12 essential.
- 2-3 years' Work experience support IT
- Certifications Advantageous
- A total of at least 2 - 3 years relevant work experience of which at least two years is in supporting the successful delivery of Application Support will be advantageous.
- Excellent collaboration and effective interaction with application development teams
- Experience working with ETL’s, and databases will be advantageous
- 1+ year’s working experience in an Agile Delivery Team will be advantageous.
- Experience in the use of analytics — log file analysis and troubleshooting Experience managing senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of data warehouse concepts:
- Physical database design
- Data Transformation
- Architecture
- Able to understand:
- Data modelling
- ETL Architecture and Design
- Evaluate and construct.
- SQL scripts
- Basics knowledge and understanding of the following would be advantageous:
- Telecommunications systems and solutions
- Data Warehousing, utilities, tools and applications
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent team working, interpersonal and facilitation skills in multi-functional team environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities
- Analytical and problem solving and logical thinking skills.
- Ability to think outside of the norm and challenge the status quo by providing innovative alternatives
- Ability to present information and argue points
