Role Purpose/Business Unit:
To manage the end-to-end accounting, reporting, control and continuous improvement of subscriber lines and finance lease activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely payment, compliance with accounting standards and strong stakeholder service across local market and shared services (VOIS).
To be successful the individual must have a solid understanding of Asset & Lease Accounting; systems across an integrated systems landscape which incorporates several complementary business solutions and their respective interfaces. They must enjoy problem solving; understand performance metrics for world class organization and compliance (such as Internal Audit, Sox).
Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage and support subscriber line and transmission lease accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness of reporting and reconciliations.
- Ensure adherence to IFRS, internal controls, SOX and company policies by maintaining effective control frameworks and supporting audit processes.
- Coordinate lease-related operations, including contract accounting, payment tracking, query resolution, balance sheet reviews, aged balance follow-ups and month-end close activities.
- Identifying and addressing financial and operational risks through process improvements, control enhancements and reporting improvements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (National Property, Technology, Shared Services and others) to enhance service delivery, support reporting needs and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- B Com Accounting (essential).
- 5 years relevant experience in a finance environment.
- SAP experience essential; SAP RE module or SAP certification desirable.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
- Strong knowledge of lease accounting, financial reporting, internal controls and audit requirements, including IFRS and SOX.
- Understanding of finance operations in complex, multinational or shared service environments, ideally within telecommunications or similarly complex industries.
- Strong systems capability, including SAP and integrated finance systems, with the ability to improve processes and support implementation or post-go-live activities.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving and performance management skills, with the ability to translate financial data into practical business insight.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams and levels of the organisation.
