Role Purpose/Business Unit:
To design, develop, and continuously improve secure infrastructure automation capabilities that enable Zero Touch Operations across on-premise platforms, private cloud, public cloud, and operational technology teams. The role accelerates delivery through reusable automation patterns, infrastructure-as-code practices, integration standards, and governed self-service workflows that improve reliability, consistency, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and building enterprise automation and orchestration capabilities that move operational teams towards Zero Touch Operations across on-premise infrastructure, private cloud, public cloud, and platform services.
- Creating reusable automation patterns, workflow templates, integration standards, and common services that enable safe, standardised, self-service execution with minimal manual intervention.
- Developing, testing, and maintaining infrastructure-as-code, configuration-as-code, and workflow automation that integrates with systems, cloud platforms, APIs, repositories, pipelines, and operational toolsets.
- Providing technical guidance, enablement, and escalation support for production automation, including exception handling, failure remediation, access controls, auditability, and operational resilience.
- Maintaining automation documentation, coding standards, runbooks, and knowledge-sharing material to improve adoption, supportability, compliance, and reuse across teams.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Grade 12 is essential.
- A 3-year bachelor's degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technology field is essential.
- 3 - 5 years' relevant experience in infrastructure automation, platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud automation.
- Relevant vendor or professional certifications aligned to automation, cloud, DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure operations are desirable; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
Practical experience should include:
- Workflow automation and orchestration using enterprise automation platforms or equivalent tooling.
- Integration with virtualisation, operating systems, containers, private cloud, public cloud, Kubernetes-based platforms, ITSM tools, APIs, and operational monitoring systems.
- Server operating system automation for Windows and Linux, including provisioning, configuration, patching, compliance checks, and lifecycle operations.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
- Strong expertise in infrastructure automation, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code across hybrid environments.
- Experience with enterprise automation platforms, including Ansible Automation Platform or equivalent tooling, configuration management, event-driven automation, and governed self-service execution.
- Strong software engineering practices, including Python, scripting, source control, testing, modular design, peer review, and CI/CD or GitOps integration.
- Ability to design reusable automation frameworks and standard execution patterns that reduce manual intervention and advance Zero Touch Operations.
- Good understanding of secure production operations, including ITIL, Agile delivery, access controls, change governance, auditability, compliance evidence, and operational resilience.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to coach engineers, shape standards, promote reuse, and guide teams through automation adoption.
