Specialist: Transmission Assurance

Role Purpose/Business Unit:
To perform transmission network assurance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Perform assurance on the transmission network and standby duties.
- Assist with High Level Design and implementation of new technology
- Conduct Special investigations on high impact network performance on cases reported internally.
- Ensure that all faults are fixed within the relevant SLA
- Implementation of network expansion plans required for growth such as BEP1 project
- Liaison with Project Management, Infrastructure Build, Network Management Group FFO and Ops Support departments and external contractors.
- Managed Network Performance
- Provided Support and ensure quality standards on acceptance (ATP)
- Maintain Master plan
- To ensure NED targets are met
- Lead junior engineers on high escalated faults and drive to resolution in conjunction with other departments
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Matric/ Grade 12
- 3 year Degree/ National Diploma related to engineering field of study (minimum)
- 5 years work experience in telecoms industry specific to Transmission Network
- CCNA/ CCNP/ HCIA/ HCIP/ NRS I/NRS II is essential
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
- Good knowledge & experience in the Microwave, Fiber, Router and Synchronization technology.
- Good understanding and experience in SDH and DWDM technologies
- Solid knowledge of routing and transport protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS/VPLS, etc.
- Project Management skills & MS Office knowledge
- Team player with good people’s skills
- Troubleshooting skills
- Analytical thinker & solution oriented, Resilient planning & implementation
