Role Purpose/Business Unit:

 

  • Public Sector Transversal & Bid Operations role will be the central point of coordination for all Transversal and mid-tier Bid related engagements, ensuring a consistent operational excellence.

 

  • The role will manage the seamless co-ordination of Transversal engagements and contracts. The candidate will be responsible to engage with customers, market intelligence and shape the deals across Transversal contracts to maximise Vodacom’s market share. They will further drive effective sourcing methodologies and the tracking and co-ordination of contractual obligations.

 

  • The role will further facilitate the complete lifecycle of mid-tier bid proposals/tenders to drive consistent engagement with Public Sector customers and to ensure that the Vodacom has positioned itself for the bid success.

 

  • The role will work closely with the various segment practices and channels to drive growth across Vodacom Business.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Advisory & Enablement
•    Advise account teams and clients on transversal procurement processes, engagement models (e.g., National Treasury, SITA).
•    Attend customer and partner meetings to explain transversal contract technicalities and support participation in such processes.
•    Train Account Managers and Partners on transversal processes and best practices.
•    Provide timely guidance to sales teams on procurement channels and transversal participation requirements.


Deal Structuring & Coordination
•    Coordinate the execution of transversal deals across departments and customers.
•    Own and manage the end-to-end internal Vodacom transversal tender response process in collaboration with the bid team.
•    Support national and regional sales teams in executing the Public Sector strategy for transversal opportunities.


Contract Oversight & Governance
•    Maintain a centralised repository of all transversal contracts across Vodacom Business (VB).
•    Monitor the health of the transversal pipeline and track utilisation across opportunities.
•    Manage participation letters from National Treasury and SITA for Account Managers.
•    Support Billing, PMO, and Service Management teams in resolving transversal-related issues.


 Customer Engagement & Reporting
•    Function as the primary point of contact for transversal-related customer queries.
•    Host recurring alignment sessions with transversal stakeholders to resolve customer issues.
•    Provide monthly reporting on revenue generation per transversal contract.
•    Deliver insights on transversal uptake and performance metrics to leadership.

Bid Management
•    Develop & manage the bid plan/schedule towards effectively responding to RFIs, RFQs & RFPs.
•    Analyse tender documents to ensure all necessary information is included.
•    Create comprehensive RFIs, RFQs & RFPs responses to ensure quality of bid documents in accordance with Vodacom & best practice standards.
•    Manage virtual bid teams across Sales, Products and Solutions, Finance, Legal, Marketing, Supply Chain, and delivery to ensure integrity of information required for bid proposals.
•    Implement & maintain a controlled access storage for data & bid information for ease of use by internal stakeholders.
•    Co-ordinate the application, registration and submission process with customers 
•    Provide weekly/monthly reports on pipeline bids (current & potential).


    
Stakeholder Management 
•    Managing Stakeholders: Strategic management of stakeholders to achieve success in the market.
•    Co-ordinate transversal opportunities and contracts nationally with respective Sales Teams, Lob’s, and Partner Landscape.
•    Provide specialised and technical support to internal and external stakeholders to ensure achievement of functional and organisational objectives
•    Engage and escalate timeously and effectively  with various stakeholders and levels of management in ensuring that proposals are reflective of the business & individual Client’s needs.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

 

  • Relevant 3-year degree / diploma or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ work experience in bid operations, transversal management, or related environment, with:
    • Strong understanding and experience in South African Government tenders
    • Experience with Partner/Channel Management
    • Proficiency in CRM and opportunity management systems
    • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills
    • Must be willing to work under immense pressure with many projects running simultaneously.

•    Advantageous to be APMP Qualified to Foundation level

•    Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, SharePoint.
