Long Description

Role Purpose

The Product Owner (PO) M-Pesa Financial Services is responsible for successful delivery of solutions that yields value to stakeholders, in verticals including Lending, Wealth, Insurance and others. Under the supervision of the Product Manager (PM) M-Pesa Financial Services, they act as a link between business stakeholders and development team, thereby ensuring that solutions are built to meet not only the users needs but also the business objectives. They lead the management and prioritization of products backlog, ensuring alignment with development team and PM’s strategies.

The PO’s responsibilities include identifying and understanding customers’ needs and coming up with solutions that will bring business value, facilitate trainings for new and old products.

Additionally, the PO will be responsible for stakeholders’ comprehension of technical dependencies, user experience and best practices and be able to provide technical support post product launches.

Key Accountabilities

  • Translate stakeholders and product manager strategies into actionable tasks for the development team.
  • Foster close collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive timely and efficient development and delivery of features and improvements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for all stakeholders, including customers and internal departments, to define features and specifications while ensuring alignment with user needs and business objectives
  • Lead the management and prioritization of the product backlog, ensuring alignment with stakeholder and product manager strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
  • 2 years’ the successful delivery in Product Ownership (or equivalent role) across full product lifecycles, from MVP to marketable products in iterations, including support transition
  • Experience and/or Knowledge of digital product lifecycle and software development lifecycle including agile methodologies
  • Experience and/or Knowledge of mobile money, fintech and financial services
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams and manage inter-dependence
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge in full stack development.
  • Leadership skills including leading self and others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with the delivery team to deliver user stories
