Friends of LGBT+ Network
Our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT+) & Friends Network champions inclusion and celebrates diversity, both at work and out in the community. All our LGBT+ graduates are assigned a buddy from our LGBT+ community, someone who can offer them advice and guidance, who can inspire them to be who they are and say what they feel every day.
Out and proud
In 2018, we surveyed more than 3,000 LGBT+ individuals across 15 countries in partnership with “Out Now.” We found 58% of young LGBT+ people weren’t open about their sexual orientation or gender identity at work because they feared being discriminated against by managers and colleagues. Meanwhile, 31% admitted they had hidden their sexuality in their first job. At Vodafone, we’re committed to creating a culture where everyone can be open about their sexual orientation and gender identity.
Leading from the top
Working with the equality campaign organisation Stonewall, we’ve launched training on inclusive leadership with a focus on LGBT+ colleagues. We’ve held workshops for middle managers, new graduates and senior leaders alike. Anyone at Vodafone can undertake online learning with a view to being an ally of our LGBT+ community. It’s all about breaking down barriers and fostering a truly supportive environment for all.
Pride and celebration
Every Pride Week, we host a global webinar celebrating our LGBT+ colleagues that’s attended by thousands of employees from around the world. And every Spirit Day, we speak out against bullying in the LGBT+ community
