We work with customers across 28 countries from 10 VOIS locations: Albania, Egypt, Hungary, India, Romania, Spain, Turkey, UK, Germany, Ireland, and with a network of teams in Czech Republic, Italy, Greece, and Portugal.
About this Role
We are seeking an experienced OpenStack Engineer to join our Cloud & Infrastructure Services team in Romania. This role is pivotal in integrating, operating, and maintaining cloud and virtualisation technology solutions for Vodafone’s European Cloud applications. The individual will be part of a 24/7 support rota, ensuring high availability and performance of Vodafone Cloud Infrastructure. The role demands strong technical expertise in OpenStack, Linux systems, networking, and automation tools, alongside collaborative and agile working skills.
What you will do
- Architect, deploy, and configure OpenStack environments (compute, networking, storage).
- Integrate OpenStack with existing systems and automation frameworks.
- Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and security of the OpenStack platform.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to OpenStack services and infrastructure.
- Perform upgrades, patching, and version management of OpenStack components.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
- Implement continuous improvement practices to enhance performance and scalability.
- Identify automation opportunities to reduce incidents and improve delivery speed.
- Collaborate with Developer, Networking, and Storage teams for seamless service delivery.
- Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to other engineers and operational teams.
Who you are
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with OpenStack architecture and core services (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Swift, Keystone, Glance, Horizon).
- Proficient in Linux administration (CentOS/RHEL or Ubuntu).
- Strong understanding of virtualisation technologies (KVM, QEMU).
- Experienced in networking concepts (VLANs, VXLANs, SDN, firewalls, load balancing).
- Knowledgeable in storage technologies (Ceph, NFS, iSCSI).
- Familiar with basic security concepts (Authentication, Certificates, AD, LDAP).
- Skilled in scripting (Python, Bash).
- University degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Familiarity with cloud automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Heat).
- Certifications in OpenStack, Linux, or Cloud technologies are a plus.
