Role Purpose
The Private Cloud Tech Lead is responsible for leading a team of system administrators to ensure the effective management, optimization, and security of VMware-based private cloud infrastructure and Red Hat/Windows virtual machines. This role emphasizes driving operational excellence, fostering team collaboration, and aligning infrastructure capabilities with organizational goals to support reliable and secure business-critical applications.
Role Profile
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of private cloud infrastructure leveraging VMware hyper-converged solutions to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.
- Oversee the administration, optimization, and security of Red Hat and Windows virtual machines (VMs) to support business-critical applications and services.
Drive technical innovation and operational efficiency by implementing best practices in cloud architecture, virtualization, and system administration. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align private cloud solutions with organizational objectives, ensuring seamless integration and reliable service delivery.
- Act as a technical mentor and escalation point for resolving complex issues related to private cloud infrastructure and VM administration.
- Ensure compliance with security standards, governance policies, and industry regulations while maintaining robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
• Technical Expertise in VMware: Deep knowledge of VMware vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) for designing, deploying, and managing private cloud environments.
• Red Hat and Windows Administration: Advanced proficiency in administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments, including configuration, patching, scripting, and performance tuning.
• Virtualization and Automation: Strong experience in VM lifecycle management, automation tools (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, vRealize Automation), and scripting for operational efficiency.
• Security and Compliance: In-depth understanding of securing private cloud environments, including identity management, encryption, and compliance with standards like PCI, SOX & Hardening.
• Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in high-pressure environments, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
• Leadership and Communication: Exceptional leadership skills to guide technical teams, combined with clear communication to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaboration and Adaptability: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and adapt to evolving business needs and technologies.
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4-7 years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 3 years in VMware, infrastructure and administration of Red Hat and Windows VMs.
• Expertise in VMware vSphere, vSAN, and NSX for designing and managing private cloud environments.
• Demonstrated experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server administration, including configuration, security hardening, and scripting (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).
