What you’ll do
- Helps teams adopt cloud infrastructure and platform services by contributing to design and implementation activities that deliver new or improved cloud capabilities. Brings expertise in areas such as cloud technical architecture (IaaS and PaaS), automation of management tasks, provisioning, configuration management, and optimization of cloud solutions;
- Successful outcomes involve infrastructure-as-code (IaC), DevOps, Agile practices, and automation, supported by strong networking and security knowledge. The role engages directly with customer teams and works on platform capabilities spanning multiple teams, collaborating closely with architects, developers, SREs, security, and network specialists. Being a team player and willing to lead initiatives is essential;
- Supports complex operational concerns (deployment, incident/problem management, availability, capacity, service continuity) and demonstrates attention to detail and a customer-centric mindset. Qualities such as curiosity, determination, creativity, and strong communication are important;
- The position is remote/on-site with up to 40% travel;
- Provide expert knowledge to translate cloud strategy into secure, resilient implementations;
- Offer thought leadership in Compute and Data; support architects with requirements analysis, design, prototyping, testing, and implementation;
- Work on cloud migration projects, including planning, execution, and support readiness;
- Design, build, and improve infrastructure solutions using automation strategies (IaC, CI/CD, policy-as-code) and collaborative practices (DevOps);
- Research and prototype tools to enhance platform capabilities; mentor others to improve outcomes through automation;
- Improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency; assist with nonfunctional requirements (security, DR, monitoring);
- Provide subject matter expertise for approved IaaS/PaaS services; respond to escalated incidents; build reusable artifacts;
- Participate in organizational learning (COEs, hackathons, mentoring) and continuous improvement;
- Engage in planning and optimization (capacity, reliability, cost, performance);
- Work with security specialists on controls and compliance; establish logging, monitoring, and observability;
- Optimize integration across single, multi-cloud, and hybrid environments; communicate pros/cons of cloud solutions;
- Collaborate with third-party suppliers and lead problem management activities, including post-mortem analysis and resilience testing.
Who you are
- Experience with these cloud provider services is essential: AWS, Azure;
- DevOps-tooling such as CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps/ADO, TeamCity, GitHub,GitLab);
- Infrastructure-as-code approaches, role-specific automation tools and associated programming languagesAnsible, Terraform, Packer;
- Knowledge of software development frameworks/Languages: Python;
- Container management: Docker, Rancher, Kubernetes, EKS;
- Virtualization platforms: VMware;
- Operating systems: Windows and Linux including scripting experience;
- Database technologies and caching: Postgres, Oracle, MSSQL, NoSQL, Redis, CDN, Mongo;
- Identity and access management: Active Directory/Azure AD;
- Monitoring tools: AWS CloudWatch, Elastic Stack (Elastic Search/Logstash/Kibana), Grafana, Loki;
- Cloud networking Subnetting, Route Tables, Security Groups, VPC, VPC Peering, NACLS, VPN, TransitGateways, optimizing for egress costs;
- Cloud security key management services, encryption, other core security services/controls theorganization uses;
- Scalable architectures, including APIs, microservices and PaaS;
- Analyzing cloud spending and optimizing resources;
- Implementing resilience (e.g., multi-AZ, multi-region, backup and recovery tools);
- Cloud provider frameworks (e.g., Well-Architected);
- Working with architecture tools and associated artifacts;
- Fluency in English.
