Automation and DevOps Engineer
What you’ll do
Vodafone Internet of Things (IoT) is the world’s leading IoT Managed Connectivity provider. Industry analysts have positioned Vodafone IoT in their Magic Quadrant for the eighth consecutive year. We have successfully built one of the best platforms in the industry, known as GDSP (Global Data Service Platform). GDSP currently supports more than 170 million IoT connections, connecting millions of devices and vehicles.
The successful candidate will be part of an engineering team responsible for the design, integration, and optimisation of IoT Connectivity solutions, involving both the Network and IT platforms that support Vodafone IoT Services. The main functions will involve improving and evolving the Connectivity service delivered to Vodafone IoT customers, ensuring proper dimensioning for the IoT platforms, and guaranteeing that capacity is used efficiently and new services and capabilities are delivered effectively on time.
Accountabilities:
- Perform audit and information security risk assessments by reviewing, documenting, evaluating, and testing general computer controls and application controls for any IT compliance work
- Ensure that deliverables support the required business outcome at all points of consumption within a journey
- Ensure all components comply with security requirements to address non-functional impacts, such as performance and reliability
- Deliver customer secure oriented solutions, including simple bespokes and complex customer solutions
- Improve the Connectivity service delivered to Vodafone IoT customers
- Assure the proper dimensioning for the owned IoT platforms, guaranteeing capacity is used efficiently
- Guarantee owned IoT Connectivity platforms can cope with new products being delivered to IoT customers
- Manage stakeholders and vendors as required for the technical delivery and report project progress & activities
Who you are
- Educated to BSc degree level in Software Engineering or a related discipline with a focus on Computer Science
- Strong understanding of DevOps methodology, CI/CD best practices, and agile principles
- Good understanding of information security
- Experience with scripting languages such as bash, Python, Perl, Groovy, PowerShell, etc.
- Proven experience with GIT and a basic understanding of branching strategies
- Experience as a developer with Jenkins
- Valued experience with integration of other DevOps stack tools
- Good understanding of system monitoring tools and automated testing frameworks
- Industry experience with Software Platforms on Linux, on-premises, and cloud server technologies
