What you’ll do
Design, test and deliver active and passive probing monitoring solutions. Provide end-to-end monitoring of various network domains capturing data for both control and user plane, allowing for troubleshooting functions as well as for the generation of network data feeds towards northbound analytics platforms. Design and implementation principles must radically ensure the effectiveness of OSS platforms while maintaining the cost at an optimum level, addressing at the same time technology evolution and digital transformation. Primary focus on Vodafone Germany. Active contribution to initiatives related to European Vodafone Local Markets and Centralized Deployments.
Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible to execute DNOSS probing and active testing strategy in Vodafone Germany.
- Responsible to handle the outsourcer onboarded for Vodafone Germany: act as the intermediate between Vodafone Germany and the external entity engaged for Vodafone Germany’s active and passive probing projects, dispatching demands for design analysis/implementation/delivery, closely monitoring service delivery to ensure it is inline with the expectations.
- Manage project approval and budget mobilization boards in Vodafone Germany for passive and active probing initiatives.
- Project management and successful delivery based on milestones and timelines.
- Solution design and implementation of passive probing and active testing initiatives.
- Ensure delivery of BAU and digital transformation initiatives (eg tools consolidation, reusability, process automation, simplification etc.)
- Manage activities related to planning, dimensioning, capacity management and deployment of network probes according to traffic and customer forecasts.
- Ensure availability of project documentation: indicatively HLD, LLD, project and budget reporting, Acceptance TOL etc.
- Active contribution in building the probing and active testing strategy as part of the CPM Passive and Active testing team, being able to understand short term and long term requirements, study the historical trends and suggest the best way forward and applicable on a departmental, regional level. Definition of platform roadmap addressing functional and non-functional requirements.
- Alignment of passive and active probing with network evolution (indicatively but not limited to: 5G, virtualization).
- Very good understanding of the ecosystem surrounding the probing network to anticipate potential needs (short/medium/long term).
- Actively participate in discussions with both technical and non-technical departments, understand the business requirements, translate to technical and seek for the most suitable and efficient solution.
- Project lifecycle, coordinating suppliers during the design and implementation phase, assuring strong synchronization of the development plans with corporate roll-out and service-launch scheduling.
- Proactive identification of business impact and project risk, provision of a mitigation plan, decision-making ability and manage conflict.
- Project CAPEX budgeting and budget lifecycle : Budget requirements compilation, budget tracking, budget execution and absorption. Ability to adopt tactical approach to overcome project cost inflation. Apply appropriate framework and follow design principle to achieve year on year cost reduction.

Who you are
- Engineering degree (Bachelor / Master) in telecommunications or computer science or equivalent
- Excellent command over English language including communication and presentation skills – both verbal and written
- Excellent command over German language including communication and presentation skills – both verbal and written
- Professional level of certification in the OSS domain is preferred
- Proven work experience in OSS Probing and active testing domain
- Very good knowledge and proven experience on control and user plane passive probing E2E solutions, from monitored network elements up to the application/mediation/export layer, including data feeding capabilities to external NBI Analytics systems
- Previous experience in Vodafone, if available, will be considered
- Deep knowledge of telecoms in terms of IT and Network technologies and topologies. Strong knowledge of technology and protocols – e.g. 2G, 3G, 4G, IP, 5G, fixed, mobile, M2M, IoT etc
- Knowledge on 5G (NSA and SA) topology, network nodes, interfaces and passive and active monitoring solutions
- Basic knowledge on big data system architecture. Basic Knowledge on Google Cloud will be considered a plus.
- Very good understanding and interpretation of network signaling transactions and network data sources and feeds. Ability to translate business needs to technical data and vice versa.
- Knowledge of Network Operator Processes
- Proven knowledge and experience on products and platforms from key passive probing and active testing vendors & providers in the market.
- Proven successful end to end design and implementation of at least 5 Passive probing & active testing projects with minimum supervision in recent years
- Very good knowledge of IP and transmission data networks
- Very good knowledge of virtualization: NFV/SDN and CaaS
- Very good knowledge on traffic acquisition methods for both legacy and virtual environments: experience on VMware, openstack, KVM, Redhat etc environments with regards to traffic acquisition techniques, experience on virtual tapping solutions, physical tapping and aggregation, basic knowledge and understanding of switching methods applicable for traffic monitoring (eg RSPAN, ERSPAN, mirroring, ACI copy service, etc)
- Knowledge of Jira demand/project portal
- Project management skills including complex initiative management
- The candidate must have successfully managed to deliver projects in remote environment / regional model with minimum escalations and delays
- Preference of Global project exposure such as Europe, APAC
- Customer oriented and result driven.
