The Vodafone Internet of Things (IoT) suite of products and services are designed specifically to meet the needs of new and evolving business verticals. Its connection
base has grown 20 % per YoY to reach more than 200 million connections at the end of financial year 2025.  Vodafone IoT is a leader in the IoT Connectivity Gartner Magic quadrant and has been for 11 consecutive years. To fulfil the Technology requirements of IoT, Vodafone has developed its own world leading IoT Connectivity Management Platform to target the key strategic growth opportunity specifically to meet the needs of IoT customers globally.
 
Vodafone has also carved out the IoT Connectivity business to secure additional external investment and maintain our leading position in the industry through the
following. Continue accelerating and enhancing our Platform as a Service for Vodafone customers on footprint. Launch service proposition in markets that are off Vodafone’s current footprint (US and France). Address long tail lower volume segment through digital self-service platform globally.
 
We are looking for a Senior Manager – IoT Engineering Excellence for the carvedout IoT Business. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the crossfunctional management of information and technology across the IoT Platform
Engineering team. 
 
This position will oversee cross Engineering Excellence function including strategy, governance, performance management and the definition of ways of working (such
as, common methodologies, processes, and tools for developing and operating the IoT Platform), aiming for improving efficiency and productivity within the IoT Platform
Engineering teams.
 
As a key member of the senior leadership team in the Platform Engineering team, this role contributes to the development and execution of the wider technology strategy for IoT Technology.
 
  • Promote modern Engineering practices, tooling, and methodologies across platform engineering teams, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and evolving tech strategy.
  • Define and promote the right ways of working, across engineering domains, cross engineering functions, other technology teams (Architecture, Technology Product, Delivery, Networks) and with business stakeholders.
  • Support demand management & prioritization within Platform Engineering team.
  • Drive a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning
  • Ensure that IoT Platform keeps evolving to reduce run costs, becoming more efficient and productive
  • Support the delivery of improvement programmes across the engineering functions, including support for RPF/RFQ/RFIs
  • Ensure alignment with business objectives and emerging IoT industry trends
  • Define the baseline and target for costefficiency targets, including resources and people.
  • Support and influence location strategy and insourcing / outsourcing steps to deliver platform engineering goals

  • Support KTLO portfolio management,ensuring goals are delivered in time &form – this implies leading prioritization decisions in internal engineering and external forums.

Who you are

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, a related field, or
    equivalent work experience.
  • Ten or more years of experience in Engineering or Operational functions.
  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership responsibilities, including strategy, budgeting,and leading talent.
  • Strong talent management skills including talent development, coaching, mentoring, and team motivation, for geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong leadership capability with proven track record of successful crossteams development and working effectively with all organizational levels
  • Ability to effectively drive business, culture, and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment
  • Strong ability to build and maintain cross-functional partnerships at all levels of the organization.
  • Broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies, technology directions, and strategic application to business needs, including the ability to differentiate between a relevant trend and hype
  • Strong business acumen and ability to understandand drive business objectives
  • Expertise in Budget planning, financial management and workforce management.
  • Ability to improve operational efficiency, service delivery and information management across the organization.
  • Expertise in strategic planning, governance formulation, and organizational change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational skills, including an ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities with competing demands for resources
