The RAN Product Engineer will participate in the Open Ran Product Strategy and Planning team, in which the team has the following purposes: 

  • Build OPEN RAN strategy, deliver and drive product roadmap, the associated 3- year plan and the TCO evolution, tracking the progress across all development stages and enabling successful product integration and deployments
  • Support on RAN commercial processes through RFQ best practices to shortlist vendors and maximize vendors’ technical and commercial capabilities and efficiencies
  • To shape, develop and deliver OPEN RAN solutions and innovation from high level specifications to validated products that can be deployed in the field.
  • Lead OPEN RAN System Integration Ecosystem to deliver OPEN RAN Roadmap, driving results across Product Integration, Network Services, Support and End-to-End Radio Product validation and successful deployment in the field.
  • Interface to Industry forums/partners to grow Vodafone´s influence, suppliers, markets and Group functions
  • Deliver Open RAN services for customers

What you’ll do

The role has the following responsibilities:

 

  • Lead discussions with Open RAN customers on Vodafone Open RAN strategy, its implementation and best practices
  • Propose and ideate Open RAN based solutions to Open RAN customers
  • Discuss and generate strategy content by interacting with other Open RAN key players within the Vodafone organisation or other industry players
  • Deliver Radio strategy, participating on the development and delivery, from high-level specifications to validated deployable solutions
  • Lead activities on the wider “Network of Collaboration”, maximizing Vodafone's influence in the Radio space
  • Drive technical relationships with vendors in the areas of product responsibility, benchmarking, roadmap and performance management. Support or lead RFQ-based technical assessments.
  • Ideate, drive and deliver Product Innovations that allow for differentiation of Vodafone's service to our customers as well as to reduce Total Cost of Ownership compared to traditional suppliers. 

Who you are

  • Experience in mobile operator/Radio supplier environment in the fields of 2G/3G/4G/5G Radio Access Networks
  • Experience in software or hardware development of RAN products or functions
  • Proven track record for successful development and delivery of new Radio technologies/final customer solutions
  • Desired Experience in Open RAN based technologies, virtualised RAN platforms, vRAN, Network Function Virtualisation (NFV), and associated HW and SW architectures and platforms
  • Experience in delivering RFI/RFP/RFQ management and evaluation
  • Experience on delivering services for customers with proven track record of successful deliverables
  • Top customer relationship and Powerpoint presentation preparation skills
  • Programme Management Skills
  • Desirable experience in network with satellite
