What you’ll do

Cloud Operation TL will be part of the Cloud team, that is in charge for the operations of Cloud Operations  team  and  of the cloud environment used to virtualize network functions in Vodafone core network. Provide basic administrative tech support services to assist the Cloud Operation department and Manager handle routine paperwork, data entry, preparing and processing of documents, responding to general requests for information, assist with the creation of spec sheets, inventory, logistical tasks and relay information and materials between departments or individuals.

 

Main responsibilities and activities are:

• Managing and supporting a mixed environment of Vmware vSphere, Vmware Tanzu, Vmware NSX and RedHat Openshift Cloud Platforms

• Good knowledge of Storage, SAN, Network

• Installing, configuring, implementing the Cloud infrastructure

• Manage critical situations performing  troubleshooting, incident management and error handling for cloud platforms

• Discuss, evaluate and organize with design/delivery teams change management, fault management, service request processes

• Evaluating  new versions, firmware and patches. Organize, considering the impacts, the implementation of major upgrades and security patches regularly

• Discussing platform evolution with vendors and design teams

• Implementing security policies and fixing vulnerabilities on platforms according to the best practices and company procedures 

• Periodic monitoring of platforms, performance tuning, capacity planning and trend analysis

• Manage assistance in new projects during all stages, including: assessment, planning, designing, initiation, implementation

• Maintaining operational readiness, ensuring complete recovery in the event of a disaster. Attend DR tests regularly, update the policies and procedures as required

• Engages and leads the team to effectively reach operational targets

• Builds relationships with stakeholders

• Manages performance of team, set targets, evaluate results

• Fosters collaboration in the team and among teams in bigger processes and activities coordination

• Assign resources optimally to meet the needs of cloud operations. Make sure the team has access to the resources needed to get the job done efficiently

• Enable the Team to promptly resolve issues, identifying the causes and implementing preventive and corrective solutions

• Ability to organize and manage tasks efficiently to meet deadlines
 

 

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:


• Incident, change and problem management for Cloud platforms

• Life cycle management of cloud infrastructure

• Technology vendors management

• Relationship management with design teams and with internal customers
 

Key performance indicators:


• Prompt management of incidents

• Detailed planning of platform evolution with engineering teams

• Delivery of automation solutions

• Prompt management of planned activity
 

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:


• Good knowledge of Cloud, CAAS/PAAS/IAAS technologies.

• Excellent working experience on VMware and Redhat Linux.

• Good knowledge of Storage, SAN, Network 

• Good knowledge of vROPS, PowerCLI, DevOps tools.

• 5+ years experience working in a large, enterprise environment working with problem solving, troubleshooting and analysis processes

• Good knowledge of automation solutions (Ansible, Git, Python)

Academic Background: 
University degree from telecommunications engineering, information technology or equivalent STEM degree with ICT experience

 

Tenure/Years of experience:  
Total of +5 years system/cloud administration experience with Vmware vSphere, Vmware NSX, Vmware NSX, Openshift Cloud Platform, 
+2 years team coordination
 

Location Italy - Milano preferred
