What you’ll do

Role purpose: 


Ensures the seamless technical enablement and performance of interconnect and Roaming services across Vodafone and partner networks. 
Responsible for the configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of interconnects required for voice, SMS, and data services, ensuring compliance with GSMA standards and Vodafone guidelines.
Collaborates with internal teams, external operators, and service providers to manage service openings, lifecycle maintenance, and incident resolution. By maintaining robust interconnect configurations and proactively monitoring service KPIs, the Roaming Interconnect Engineer plays a key role in supporting Vodafone’s global mobility strategy and enhancing customer experience.


Key accountabilities and decision ownership : 

  • Interconnect Configuration & Maintenance: maintain routing and signalling setups across interconnect platforms. .
  • Incident Management: analyse and resolve roaming and interconnect-related issues and perform root cause analysis and order corrective actions.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Service Launch Readiness: when needed, validate readiness for new interconnect services and approve service opening test results and go-live status.
  • Decision Ownership: Own technical decisions related to routing, signalling, and partner configurations. Validate readiness and approve go-live for new
  • interconnect launches. Assess and approve network changes impacting roaming/interconnect services.
  • Defines evolutions of the interconnect guidelines, involved in the preparation of HLDs
  • Focuses on Interconnect for Germany

Who you are

Core competencies, knowledge and experience :

  • In-depth knowledge of mobile network architecture (2G/3G/4G/5G).
  • Familiarity with signaling protocols: SS7, Diameter, SIP, GTP.
  • Experience with network elements: HLR/HSS, STP, DRA, PGW/SGW, IMS.
  • Understanding of GSMA standards (IR.21, IR.85, IR.88) and IPX/GRX networks.
  • Good understanding of the SW lifecycle: design, development, testing and acceptance, implementation, performance optimization and troubleshooting
  • Core Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and stakeholder management. Project and time management across multiple priorities. High attention to detail and accuracy. Adaptability to evolving technologies and standards.

Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

  • University degree in computer science, telecommunications or equivalent
  • Telecommunications industry and project delivery experience (operator or supplier)
  • 2–3 years of experience in telecom engineering, preferably in roaming or interconnect.
  • A very good English level is required
