What you’ll do
Vodafone Cyber Security’s role is to enable a secure connected future for our customers and society. We believe that we can inspire trust and confidence in our customers by enabling secure connectivity. Our purpose is to proactively protect Vodafone from security threats and reduce risk across Vodafone’s global footprint. This role is pivotal in how we contribute the security community and society through collaboration, sharing and learning and protect our Critical National Infrastructure in line with Government regulations.
This role is accountable for leading Vodafone’s cyber threat intelligence (strategic, operational, and tactical), and threat hunting functions ; additionally, the role holder will be responsible for research, innovation and advise on evolving tactics, techniques and procedures used by threat actors, in order to craft and lead cyber hunts across Vodafone’s assets, infrastructures and services, internally and externally. Lastly, working at the heart of Cyber Defence, the role holder will lead and influence on how security research is consumed, reviewed and then used to drive threat hunting across Vodafone. Through proactive and effective research, threat hunting and actionable intelligence, we can mitigate cyber threats, drive strategic actions and feed and support incident response.
The role holder will provide leadership and drive insight that is used to shape and inform global Cyber Security strategy, operations and tactical response. This insight is vital across the various markets and company in shaping discussions with Board and Executive committee members, Enterprise customers, media & journalists, regulators, and our workforce.
The key purpose of this role is to:
- Be Vodafone’s cyber threat intelligence leader and subject matter expert. Shape the implementation of threat-led cyber security decision making.
- Use accumulated experience, training and judgement to lead a team of cyber intelligence, threat hunt specialists. Specifically, you will:
- Lead and evolve the strategy to drive the focus of the research conducted by the cyber threat hunting team, working across Vodafone.
- Drive a team that focuses on partnerships and information sharing; provides strategic, tactical and operational direction to research and find threats, feeds information into the cyber defence lifecycle, produces and disseminates strategic and actional threat intelligence.
- Think like an adversary in order to disrupt them – leverage tactical, technical and legal capabilities to mitigate threat.
- Align, support and drive the right team to characterise suspicious binaries and be able to identify traits, command and control information, etc to develop network and host-based IOCs.
- Prioritise interaction and assistance to other investigative teams within Vodafone on time sensitive, critical investigations.
- Support Incident Management/CSOC teams with intelligence and threat actors monitoring during on going incidents and in feeding early warning impacting Vodafone
- Provide contextual information to Vodafone’s Threat Intelligence team as well as Global and local entities for strategic and/or tactical briefings on threats as needed.
- Be an active member of the Global Cyber Security leadership community, providing insight, driving proactive mitigation and influencing security strategy.
Who you are
- Practical experience in the cyber threat intelligence field. Able to demonstrate the creation of strategic cyber threat landscapes, operational intelligence, and tactical remediation of cyber threats.
- Professional experience in cyber security, incident response, or information security.
- Practical experience of utilising cyber intelligence to improve incident detection and response.
- Creating strong working relationships, and engaging effectively, across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. Building and maintaining trusted strategic level intelligence relationships.
- Communicating concise summaries of complex technical scenarios/information across diverse and senior stakeholder groups. Knowing how much and when to share.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop effective threat mitigation and response strategies.
- Creating coaching and learning environments. Knowing when to offer support to others and when to take personal accountability.
- Knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure and related technology. (desirable).
- Change management, agile and continuous improvement experience. (desirable).
- Ability to become DV security cleared (desirable)
