About this Role
We are seeking a seasoned Cloud Economist to join our growing FinOps practice. This role is ideal for individuals with deep expertise in cloud cost management, budgeting, and financial forecasting across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in scaling cloud financial operations, influencing cross-functional teams, and driving strategic cost optimisation initiatives.
What you’ll do
- Lead cloud cost management and optimisation efforts across multi-cloud environments.
- Develop and maintain budgeting, forecasting, and reporting frameworks for cloud expenditure.
- Build and scale a Cloud Finance Management (FinOps) practice from the ground up.
- Analyse cloud billing data and pricing models to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to align financial strategies with business goals.
- Utilise tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Savings Plans Recommendation Engine, and Reserved Instance Planner.
- Present financial insights using data visualisation tools like Tableau and Power BI.
- Apply FinOps principles to enhance financial transparency and accountability.
Who you are
- 8+ years of experience in cloud cost management and optimisation.
- 15+ years of experience in IT and finance is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of cloud financial concepts and billing mechanisms across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and scripting languages for automation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence diverse teams.
- Holds a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as FinOps Certified Practitioner or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner are a plus.
- Demonstrates strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
