Job Roles

•Plan, Design and control the International Transmission Optical and OTN network. 
•Support projects with design engineering advice & expertise.
•Produce design documentation
•Co-ordinate and assist project implementation
•Support major bids and strategic planning activities
•Responsibility for control and planning, implementation support and technical consultancy of all aspects of transmission systems.
•To monitor and plan the Transmission Layer of the Global Transmission network to ensure capacity is implemented and augmented to meet demand.
•Ensure databases are maintained to ensure accurate tracking of Global Transport infrastructure.
•Consolidate forecasts and demand drivers into plans aligned to the Global Transport infrastructure across all regions.
•Liaise with other departments within Vodafone to support major bids and strategic planning activities.
•Liaise with other departments & co-ordinate Engineering support activities.
•From perceived capacity demands, produce cost effective plans and designs. They are to be in accordance with Vodafone standards and HS&E requirements. To include: Equipment lists, Site line layouts, Equipment rack face layouts, Equipment configurations, DDF & ODF allocations, DCN requirements, Power consumptions figures, Overhead and under floor superstructure and Optical path budgets and connections.
•Liaise with purchasing and supply regarding test equipment and spares forecasts.
•Take responsibility for larger and more complex projects and commercial bids.
•Be aware of the current industry developments and identify opportunities for use within the network. Specially in the area of SDN.
