About this Role

We are seeking a  Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Database team within VCI Operations. This role is based at our Pune office and focuses on delivering robust database solutions, ensuring high availability, and supporting mission-critical systems. The position involves strategic and operational responsibilities, including migrations, upgrades, and advanced configurations in clustered environments.

Who you are

  • An experienced Oracle DBA with 8–10 years of hands-on expertise.
  • A collaborative professional with a positive attitude and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communicator with proficiency in both written and verbal English.
  • Open-minded and solution-oriented, capable of working in dynamic environments.

What you’ll do

  • Manage Oracle RAC database machines, providing administration and support for Oracle versions 11g, 12c, 18c, 19c and above.
  • Implement and support Oracle migrations and upgrades, including environments using Oracle Data Guard.
  • Perform software installations, upgrades, migrations, and apply patches.
  • Configure and manage backup and recovery using RMAN and Data Pump (expdp/impdp).
  • Handle advanced configurations such as ASM, RAC, RMAN, DG/DR administration.
  • Work with GoldenGate replication and maintain high availability setups.
  • Develop and maintain UNIX shell scripts for automation and performance tuning.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational standards and security protocols.

What skills you need

  • 5–8 years of experience as an Oracle DBA.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle RAC, ASM, RMAN, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
  • Expertise in installation, upgrade, patching, backup, and restore activities.
  • Familiarity with UNIX, shell scripting, and kernel parameters.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Exadata is an added advantage.

What skills you will learn

  • Exposure to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and advanced database technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Opportunity to work on strategic datacentre delivery projects.
  • Develop expertise in performance tuning and automation for large-scale environments.
