What you’ll do

The Quality Assurance Engineer will oversee and ensure the effectiveness of QA processes, ensuring that all products and services produced from Vodafone meet the highest standards of quality. They will coordinate with various departments to implement and maintain QA protocols, driving continuous improvement and compliance as well as monitoring the correct execution of the processes that impact the quality. Additionally, they will mentor and guide the different testing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assesses risks (e.g., product, project, reputational and financial risk) and defines/drives/implements the squad’s test strategy, where applicable, to mitigate these risks, including identification of deficiencies and debugging;
  • Supports the teams (both local or SI) in designing test cases to assure high quality code for example by using test-driven development techniques;
  • Works together with the delivery teams to design and implement efficient acceptance tests.
  • Monitors the different testing processes across multiple platforms and projects and focuses iteratively on the QA issues identified to explain to the team what didn’t go well and whether the process failed to be followed.
  • Is responsible to suggest/update the “as is” processes as to guarantee better results.
  • Collaborates with and influences stakeholders across the e2e software development process, including 2nd and 3rd line incident support.
  • Monitors and performs analytics on the defects per team, per system, per SI etc to understand areas that need improvement. A QA scorecard will be defined to measure the maturity of a specific function or platform based on the density of bugs/issues.

  • The QA engineer will be accountable to increase the scorecard.
  • Set up tooling in place for the QA process as well as support the other teams to use the correct tooling that can be used later for analytics, KPIs etc.

Who you are

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

  • Quality Assurance Expertise: Deep understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and best practices, with the ability to implement and oversee QA processes. This is not the test case preparation and execution but the ability to define processes for a successful QA.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues, analyze data, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and convey complex information clearly.
  • Experience in telco environments is not a must, but it can be a good differentiator.

  • Must have technical / professional qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a field of study of Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or a related field;
  • Testing and Evaluation - Defines the test strategy, which may include test methodology, planning and interpretation to validate that the developed system/service meets business requirements.
  • Software Engineering - Follows a systematic process of understanding requirements, working with stakeholders, and applying software engineering and testing concepts and standards.
  • Automation and AI – Uses/Suggests innovative automation technologies to automate an iterative process to help address pain points, streamline business operations or ensuring quality in areas such as performance testing.
  • Security - Manages information and Cyber Security related activities and recommending appropriate remediation measures to ensure the integrity and continuity of systems, services, and information.

Key performance indicators:

  • Defect Detection Rate: Percentage of defects identified and reported during the QA process.
  • Test Coverage: Extent to which the test cases cover the requirements and functionalities of the application.
  • Defect Resolution Time: Average time taken to resolve identified defects.
  • Process Compliance: Adherence to established QA processes and standards.
  • Team Performance: Metrics related to the productivity and effectiveness of the QA team, such as the number of test cases executed per team member.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Number and impact of process improvements implemented based on QA findings.
