Transmission Planning Sn. Engineer
What you’ll do
- To plan and design the microwave systems in transmission network through site survey process resulting in path clearance evidence.
- Definition of the requirements for site configuration, and complete link design with respect to quality and availability targets.
- Definition of the requirements for fibre connection, with respect to quality and availability targets.
- Follow up with suppliers HW roadmap as per Group Guidelines.
- Follow up with NRA new connection applications and cost fee controls.
- HW Stock management.
Job Responsibilities
- Undertake the feasibility evaluation aiming to define possible solutions (MW / Fiber) for new sites/locations requested to connect in transmission network.
- Be an active player in planning the development of Transmission Network.
- Perform field survey to confirm the microwave link feasibility by identifying the Line of Sight (LOS) alternatives and defining the minimum microwave antenna height based on the required clearance.
- Fiber connectivity (FttPoc/FTTS topology definitions, fibre distance evaluations, field survey when needed).
- Develop MW and fibre optic network architectures (backhaul, fronthaul, FTTH/S).Conduct feasibility studies, MW path surveys, LOS analysis, frequency coordination and fibre routing mapping.
- Design fibre routes, manage splicing plans and select equipment (e.g. Ericsson MW, Cisco ONS etc).

- Perform link budget calculations and redundancy planning for high availability.
- Undertake the microwave frequency planning and preparation of new applications for approval by NRA. Reconcile of the costs fee for the connections.
- Undertake the configuration of microwave equipment to be purchased, based on capacity requirements and network optimization needs.
- Monitor equipment stock and field allocation in line with technical designs issued for implementation and prepare of the reports.
- Contribute to network resilience planning and preparation of Business Continuity Planning procedures containing specific actions & instructions for service resumption.
- Planning and design feasibility study required to support any demand for new connectivity projects, such as Leased lines for business customers, interconnections with other operators etc.
- Upload of the network data in NRA platform ATLAS.
Who you are
- Minimum 7 Years of experience
- Good knowledge on Microwave Propagation Theory and Fibre technology.
- Experience with different HW of the MW vendors as Nokia, Huawei, Ericsson, SIAE.
- Including SDH/SONET, Ethernet and IP networking
- Knowledge one the monitoring systems.
- Reporting skills: Ability on performance reporting for large organisations and knowledge of financial measures and related drivers.
- Driving license.
- Team player: Excellent team player
- Be customer oriented.
- Be sensitive on environmental issues.
Must have technical/professional qualifications:
- Master’s degree / Engineering. Telecommunication.
- Qualification with MW planning tool. Atoll (Forsk), e.g. QGIS for fibre mapping.
- OTDR, DWDM, GPON, splicing techniques.
- Knowledge on routers HW.
- Tools- Microsoft Exchange, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, AutoCAD, Wireshark etc.
