Role Purpose/Business Unit:

 

Manage a team of technical and operational resources whose responsibilities include operations, support and maintenance of core application and infrastructure.  Primarily for the national network and instances for international networks.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

These responsibilities include managing a team of individuals
Managing functions which include infrastructure and applications fault management, emergency restorations, daily operations, infrastructure projects handover from engineering, infrastructure optimization, VNF on-boarding
Co-ordinate and execute, acceptance testing and manage roll out of new infrastructure and application environments.
Provide High level support to internal and external customers
Development of tools to assist within the planning and optimisation 
Interface with and communicate technical  information in a clear manner-to internal, external customers and suppliers
Maintain Relationships with the respective vendors and divisions.
Managing respective contracts, such as SLAs, spare part management, etc
Managing and planning  a short and long range opex budget plan
Managing overtime and standby  

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

 

Matric (Essential)
A 3 year degree/diploma in Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical or equivalent qualification. (Essential) 
Minimum 5 Years’ experience in a mobile operations and support  environment (Essential)  
A minimum 5 years’ experience on Core Networks Elements (Essential)  
A minimum 2 years in a management or equivalent leadership role.
Working knowledge of  Telco over cloud stack and Voice core applications desirable  
A good knowledge and understanding of NFVi is an added advantage

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

 

Relevant GSM Core systems  
Voice core, Mobile Convergence, NFVi, Orchestration and SDN 
Telco over Cloud Infrastructure operating models 
VIM/Hypervisor Design (KVM Openstack, VMWare etc.)
GSM/GPRS/UMTS/LTE protocols and SS#7 and other IP Protocols
Telecommunication Industry and current government telecomm legislation as well as developments within ETSI/3GPP IETF and ITU-T
Business Acumen/Ethics 
Ms Office
3gpp and non 3gpp call flows
