Role Purpose/Business Unit:

 

Evaluation, impact analysis, feasibility study, recommendation, scoping and implementation of new technologies predominantly within the CORE Network Engineering Domain.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Evaluation, impact analysis, feasibility study, recommendation, scoping and implementation technical lead (design, integration & testing) of new core network cloud based technologies and products and services within Vodacom.
Conduct research and provide direction to department short to long term strategy and ensure alignment to Vodafone Technology Strategy (where feasible) in terms of new core network cloud technologies based on best practices, industry and market trends.
Actively manage and take accountability for core network resiliency principles, optimisation and stability appropriately and involve management, where required.
Defining key inputs and compiling & reviewing of tender documents/technical reports, including evaluation and expertly commenting on internal process documentation (TRP, BRS, HLD and LLD).
Interface with, maintain productive relationships with and lead vendors as well as cross functional teams from other divisions in the company.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

 

Minimum three/four year degree/diploma in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
5-8 years working experience/exposure in ICT, with experience in Mobile Networks with expertise in the following areas:
Signalling protocols and associated call flows: particularly Internet Protocol (IP), SS#7, SIP, DIAMETER & HTTP.
GSM/GPRS/UMTS/LTE/5G-SA/Fixed Mobile Convergence/Telco over Cloud (NFV, IaaS, Kubernetes and orchestration).
Subscriber Data Management (provisioning, LDAP, XML, etc.)/Voice/VoLTE/ VoWiFi/Messaging/Signalling (STP, DRA, SCP, SEPP)/Roaming.
Network applications SW Lifecycle Management to cater for new functionality and cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
Understanding and working with LINUX OS.

Co-ordinate / lead / delegate in technical projects.
Guiding and enabling junior team members with new technologies, processes and best practices.
Must be prepared to travel when required.
Must be prepared to work long hours when required.
