Role Purpose/Business Unit:

 

  • To engage and provide support and architectural guidance and second level critical support with aggressive and complex enterprise level services and applications as a Networking subject matter experienced professional.
  • Escalation support and deep dive technical analysis on design, architecture, and supporting the organisation’s network services within IT Data Centres and Corporate offices countrywide will be part of your primary role.
  • Your key purpose is to ensure stability and availability of the Enterprise IT Network Infrastructure and related supporting services to delivering on business goals without the compromise on security.  

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Monitor, supports and maintains the network to ensure its day-to-day stability and availability.
  • Find current network risks and implement innovative solutions to optimise, remediate and/or mitigate.
  • Provide support to internal BU infrastructure teams during fault-finding and trouble shooting.
  • Provide research and assessment of innovative technologies as well as customer needs.
  • Provide architectural guidance on routing and switching.
  • Development and keep all documentation relating to architecture, configurations, interfaces, and reports i.e., Inventory Management and Knowledge Base documentation including HLD’s, LLD’s & SoW’s.
  • Proactively improve infrastructure, reducing operational costs and complexities.
  • Provide 2nd Tier technical escalation support to the 1st Line Helpdesk and assess technology security risk periodically.
  • Plan, design and build the Enterprise core network. Conduct functionality and gap analyses to find the extent to which key business areas and infrastructure follow statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend new product technologies.
  • Supply support to Technical Product development team to develop Enterprise products.

 

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

 

  • Matric (Essential) 
  • Degree or Diploma in IT (Essential)
  • 3-5 years working experience in the Information Technology industry supporting Cisco Technologies (Essential)
  • Knowledge of Cloud Networking Technologies
  • Strong understanding of F5 Load-balancing technologies
  • Strong Understanding of Cisco Security Technologies

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

 

  • Extensive knowledge in managing a global network (WAN & LAN).
  • Extensive knowledge and firsthand experience in design, architecture and supporting an organizations network infrastructure.
  • Extensive knowledge and firsthand experience of Layer2 and Layer3 networks, high availability, redundancy, and interoperability between different vendors.
  • Extensive networking knowledge in product suites available from vendors like Cisco Switching and Firewalling, F5, VMWare, and EMC.
  • Extensive knowledge of IP Networks.
  • Experience in designing Data Centre server environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of Storage network environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of trouble shooting and fault finding on a virtual server and network environment.
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management.
  • Effective communication skills in English, verbal and written.
