Role Purpose/Business Unit:

 

The IT Operations Manager at MAST Services is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the IT department. This role ensures the efficient functioning of the company's IT infrastructure, systems, and services to support business operations and objectives. 
 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the IT operations team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Set clear performance objectives, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.

IT Infrastructure Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance, upgrade, and support of all IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and storage systems.
  • Ensure IT systems and infrastructure availability, reliability, and security.

Service Delivery and Support:

  • Manage IT service delivery to ensure the efficient and timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Implement and monitor IT service management (ITSM) practices to enhance service quality and user satisfaction.

Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure IT operations adhere to company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement robust security measures to protect company data and IT assets.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the IT department.

The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:

 

Must have technical / professional qualifications: 
Bachelor’s Degree:

  • A bachelor’s degree/diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Professional Certifications:

  • ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Foundation or higher certification.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 certification for project management.
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) for security management (optional but highly desirable).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in IT operations management or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in managing and maintaining IT infrastructure and services.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing IT teams.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, server management, and storage systems.
  • Proficiency in using ITSM tools and platforms.
  • Knowledge of cloud services and virtualisation technologies.

Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations such as ISO 27001, POPIA, or other relevant standards.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of IT professionals.
  • Strong skills in setting performance objectives, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Technical Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage systems, and cloud services.
  • Proficiency in IT service management (ITSM) practices, such as ITIL, and experience with service desk tools.

Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Capability to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.

Project Management:

  • Demonstrated experience in planning, executing, and managing IT projects.
  • Ability to deliver projects on time, within scope, and budget, using project management methodologies like Agile or PRINCE2.

Security and Compliance:

  • Comprehensive understanding of IT security principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining security measures to protect data and IT assets, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
