Role purpose/Business Unit:

 

Take end-to-end responsibility for the MAST national structural infrastructure portfolio, with consideration of international best practice relating to the research, development, design engineering, implementation and maintenance requirements relating to all existing and all new structural solutions. This position requires a deep technical understanding of the various related site-specific MAST structural engineering requirements, with a total cost of ownership (TCO) responsibility. 
 

Your responsibilities will include:

 


Infrastructure Engineering

  • Structural Engineering: Responsible for the structural analysis and related methodologies gearing towards possible stress reduction and force impacts on all MAST structures. This includes all technical engineering support relating to all programs relating to new build, colocation, tower strengthening, tower upgrades, and tower maintenance requirements. Drive the tower structural information database (data governance and data validation) and digital tower modelling, allowing for a data-driven structural engineering solution that allows visibility and easy access to all structures, supporting commercial and business development to improve site sharing profitability and a reduction in the related operational and financial risks.

Thought Leader 

  • Trusted and respected as a thought leader and change agent who can influence and persuade business and MAST leadership teams. 
  • Including people management, team effectiveness, people development and employee engagement. 

Supplier /Contract Management

  • Develop governance structures to monitor, evaluate and manage suppliers, contractors, and 3rd party’s performance (SLA/KPI) against their contracted scope of work and benchmark best practice. 

 Financial Management & Reporting

  • Formulate and manage all site infrastructure related operational elements CAPEX and OPEX budgets. 
  • Including the development of dashboards to enable management visibility and structured client reports. 

Compliance Management

  • Responsible for MAST preparation for ISO compliance and certification audits. 

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

 

Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

  • Strong proficiency in mathematical calculations with a BSc Civil Engineering qualification and ECSA registration is essential.   
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of hands-on working experience within the telecommunications sector, with essential working knowledge of site design, site build, site optimization, site operations and maintenance requirements.

 

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

  • Deep understanding of existing, new, and emerging telecommunications site build, site operations and site maintenance technologies.
  • Strong management experience across multiple delivery areas and vendors, including strong programme management across a complex delivery area.
  • Problem-solving skills, able to navigate through difficult negotiations, including business and financial acumen.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to distil complex technical concepts into simple terms, with strong persuasion skills to gain support for principles, standards, and change
  • Excellent relationship building, teamwork, and collaboration skills that enables the provision of effective support and guidance across programmes
  • Proven track record on key outputs/disciplines 
  • Proven track record of the ability to apply technical knowledge in the analyses of accurate comparisons and reviews of various solution designs and the development of realistic return on investment (ROI) operational financial models.
